Support Suprv. — Recreation Division Guest(s) Present: Ryan Hennig from Webber Junior High Call Meetine to Order: Meeting called to order by Abby Zier at 7:04 p.m. Approval of Minutes from November 5, 2003 On a motion by Ashley Stephenson and seconded by Brendon Votipka, the minutes of November 5, 2003 were approved unanimously (7-0). Agenda Review: The Transfort presentation was tabled to the January, 2004 meeting. Citizen Participation: No citizen participation. Agenda: INTRODUCTION OF RYAN HENNIG Ryan Hennig, new appointee to the Youth Advisory Board by TEAM Fort Collins, was introduced to other Board members. He is a student at Webber Junior High, and his appointment to the Board will be confirmed by City Council on December 16, YOUTH ACTIVITY CENTER UPDATE/FUND-RAISING The November participation report and December calendar were distributed to Board members. A few new participants found their way to the YAC on November. The pool league is going well, but interest was insufficient in the 3-on-3 basketball league. Two ski/snowboard trips are scheduled for December; previous trips have been very successful. Youth Advisory Board Minutes December 3, 2003 Page 2 Fund-raising for the YAC gymnasium is going well. $25,000 was received from the Boettcher Foundation. The Bowl-a-thon was rescheduled to January 31. Brownie McGraw, chair of the Youth Center Task Force, will pay for the entry fee for a YAB team.....Jonathan, Brendon, Ashley and Adrienne agreed to bowl for the cause. NORTHSIDE AZTLAN COMMUNITY CENTER UPDATE A 3-on-3 basketball tournament is planned for elementary and junior high kids. The Toys for Kids toy wrapping party will be held on Saturday, December 6 from 9:00 a.m. until volunteers are done. The Toys for Kids effort is still about $2,000 short of funds, but donations continue to arrive and toys are being donated. The parties are scheduled for December 13. OTHER BUSINESS • The finalized version of the YAB work plan was sent to the City Clerk's office and distributed to Board members. • Amy Flug and Abby Zier drafted a letter regarding the teen survey that was conducted earlier in the year. It will be finalized and submitted to the Coloradoan for Soapbox. • Two sub -committees were formed to devote further time to exploring the teen/adult trust issue and to work on developing fund-raising ideas for the proposed inspirational park. Committee members are as follows: Inspirational park: Abby, Brendon, Jonathan, Amy and Ryan (following the confirmation of his appointment to the Board). Trust issue: Erin, Ryann, Adrienne, Ashley Sub -committee members spent some time discussing their topics and will meet again at times that are convenient for them.
