M., by Mark Beck, chairperson Motion: To approve the September 2004 Regular Meeting Minutes. By Paul, second Jeff Unanimously Approved Renee Lee - Therapy and Recreation Specialist with City Theater and Arts Experience — Friday, October 15, 5:30-8:00 ---sign ups there to indicate interest, in programs, etc. Her job is to: Oversee support systems to allow people of all abilites to participate. Design courses and programs specifically for people with disabilities. Conduct workgroups for input with respect to usability. Examples include: Adaptive sports Travel Expo --- she would like to have more information, e.g., Accessible trail heads, etc. Susan: Why did you choose your field? Renee: I attended OT at UNC — I started working with the Adaptive Ski program at Winter Park which set my course. I have been in the community setting for 20 yrs. Boulder, Loveland, and now Fort Collins. We were sharing a grant with CSU Community Center for Participation (CCP) that just ended. The grant was funding a second therapeutic specialist on staff in the department. The City is committed to keep them on next year. The partnership with CSU was very good, great connectivity with people that need OT and get it via CSU's CCP. Hoping to keep second full-time therapeutic specialist in the 2006 budget. The department produced a 12 minute video - Highlights Work and Recreation --- "Recrecation Works". Would like to show that to the Commission some time in the future.. Executive Committee Elections Nominations Chairperson Susan Joan Vice -Chair Laura Steve Secretary/Recorder Jerry Historian Jeff Melinda Nomiations will be open until elections * Remind people about the alternate meeting time for November Edward Wadley — Is Proposing CSU give parking rights to senior citizens for free Susan called head of CSU parking. They claim that they cannot justify free parking, but they are looking to lower the fees. What can the COD do? The head of parking suggested that the COD write a letter to CSU to consider lowering fees for senior citizens and people with disabilities parking. Action: Susan: Contact Mike, head of CSU parking for more information Brochures New draft of the brochures were passed around. We may need to appropriate funds for Brad to work on the brochures. Action: Susan to make corrections and submit to Mark Beck, who will give it to Brad Randall Agreed on Ivory as the paper color Motion: to adjourn by Susan, seconded by Steve R.
