HomeMy WebLinkAboutArt In Public Places Board - Minutes - 11/17/2004ART IN PUBLIC PLACES MINUTES Regular Meeting -Wednesday, November 17, 2004 Lincoln Center MEMBERS PRESENT: Alan Howe, Ray Tollison, Libby Dale, Lee Needham, Ann Carr, Roger Sherman, Cori Hinton -Cunningham MEMBERS ABSENT: none STAFF PRESENT: Marry Heffernan, Jill Stilwell, Ellen Martin, Cory Gundlach, Suzanne Jarboe -Simpson (Utilities), Kraig Bader (Utilities) I. Call to order 3:34 p.m. - Mr. Sherman II. Consideration of the current agenda III. Approval of minutes from the meeting of October 20, 2004. Mr. Howe moved to approve the minutes. Mr. Tollison seconded the motion. Approved unanimously. IV. Citizen Participation V. Downtown Alley Proposal Review: Ms. Martin presented the project as collaboration with the City of Fort Collins Utilities Department and Downtown Development Authority. Additional Selection Committee members include Chip Steiner of Downtown Development Authority and Summe Jarboe -Simpson of Utilities. Mr. Tollison motioned to accept artist Barb McKee (Surface Strategy). Motion seconded by Alan Howe. Approved unanimously. Mr. Tollison motioned to accept alternate artist as Susan Dailey. Seconded by Alan Howe. Mr. Tollison withdrew the motion, and then motioned to accept Nic Kot as alternate artist. Mr. Howe seconded the motion. Approved unanimously. VI. Transformer Cabinets Proposal Review: Ms. Martin presented the background of the project. The budget for the project is approximately $11,000 with funds from the Utilities Department. Additional Selection Committee members include Kraig Bader and Suzanne Jarboe -Simpson from the Utilities Dept. The selection committee reviewed the proposals. Board expressed concerns about the nature of work reviewed in the proposals in relation to the functions required of the transformer cabinets, i.e. sculptural forms interfering with hinged doors. Utilities Dept. representative discourages an application of any material in such a way that will directly interfere required functions of the transformer cabinets. Review of proposals. Mr. Howe motions to accept artist Sandy Tolan. Mr. Needham seconded the motion. Approved unanimously. 11-17-04 Ms. Hixon-Cunningham motions to accept alternate artist team as Lisa Huff and Diane McGlaughlin. Seconded by Ms. Carr. Approved unanimously. VII. Staff Reports Staff distributed awritten report of staff activities since the last board meeting. Press material about current APP project at Harmony Park distributed VIII.
