Regular Meeting Minutes
October 24, 2002
Council Information Center. City Hall West
Members present Mark Beck, Jill Lancaster, Susan Williams, Ruth Bell Skogerbee, Paul Ostrof, Joan Cook. JemPatterson.
Alan Apt, Laura Bunten. City staff Rachel Palmer. Guests: Steve Sutter. Steve Ryerson
Mark called the meeting to order at 12: l5 pm.
Minutes approved. Passed unanimously. Motion made by Alan and seconded by loan.
Sub Committee/Program Reports
Mayor's Awards
Norlaco donated $250 for the Mayor's Awards and indicated a desire to be very involved next year Steve and Tracy
gave updates on the Mayor's Awards and assigned COD members to last-minute jobs Mark expressed a concern
regarding the nomination process for the Mayor's Awards. The COD will address this concern during the work
session next month. Jill has volunteered to draft a procedure manual and timeline for the Mayor's Awards.
PHA
The PHA resolution was adopted at the last city council meeting!
Employment
Training for employers on hiring the disabled - Next Tuesday 1 L30 - 1:30 pm
New Business
Steve Ryerson joined the group to see if he could find some legal resources for a friend Alan suggested he contact
the county legal aid office.
Mark was asked to write a letter for an organization indicating support from the COD. It was determined that the
chair cannot act independently on behalf of the commission and these requests should be brought to the group as a
whole.
Other Business
Tracy will follow up with the bus shelter issue.
