Minutes Febru ry 2001
Present Annmane Izuel Evans, Haime Cha, Rita Anastacio, Lisa Gorham, Sharon Bnngleson,
Deb Thompson
Excused absences Deb Tamlm, Sara Lamia, Tam Frager
Unexcused absences Lena Sunthakar
I Call to order 6 10 PM
II Minutes approved Deb Thompson moved, Sharon seconded Unammous Approval
III Review of agenda items
IV Announcement Haime announced she has received confirmation from the mail that they
will contribute the $ 25 00 per student for the Women's History Month essay contest She
will follow up with Wendy to secure the funds from our end and forward the needed
paperwork to the mall
Ann inane announced she filed a conflict in interest form with the City as her husband is
running for City Council seat district 3 This was in case the Commission on the Status of
Women did organize a political forum prior to the election
V Business items
A Update on committee work Deb Tamlm was not available so Annmane asked
Rita Anastacio to see if they had organized a candidate forum in re to day care prior to
the 4 3 01 election Rita advised she had not heard from Deb on the matter Annmanes
was going to follow-up with Deb and Barb S concerning plans with the City
B Retreat- the retreat was discussed briefly Annmane had received 2 emails with
suggestions concerning a retreat Due to the limited amount of members in attendance it
was decided to add retreat discussion to the April agenda
C Marcel Wood- once again, due to the limited attendance, Marcel Wood committee
was not formed and will be continued to the March Agenda
D Women's History Month - essays have been turned in and picked up The
deadline is 2-23 01 Haime, Jean, Lisa, Deb Thompson agreed to meet at Jean's house
on Sunday to review and read all the essays Once done, this committee, will send out
the invitations, order the certificates, etc
E Jeanne offered to be a liaison through CSU and will provide monthly updates on
their activities
G Annmane attended a meeting at the Women's Center concerning Women's Award
night 3-1-01 Since there was very little time to plan It appeared they were also in
the planning phase, CSW did not offer to assist in the event, as we would not have
been able to reach people to co ordinate any activities Annmarie also spoke with
Marta Gavier from the library as they are having events all month She had

suggested having some of the students read their essays It was decided not to
commit to this due to logistical problems of getting students to the events
