I. Call to order 3:36 p.m. — Mr. Alan Howe
II. Consideration of the agenda
III. Approval of minutes from the meeting of March 27, 2002
Ms. Dale moved to approve the minutes.
Ms. Liska-Smith seconded.
Approved unanimously.
IV. Citizen participation - None
V. Harmony Park Update
Artist Jim Lynxwiler presented current designs for this project. The concrete walkways have been poured
with spaces in the walkway left out for a tile mosaic. Mr. Lynxwiler intends to continue the tile mosaic
pattern in the center of the teaching circle areas as well as creating vertical elements at the entrance with
these student -created tiles. The artist has met with the two participating teachers and their students each
week. The park is scheduled to open in late June or early July. It is the consensus of the board that Mr.
Lynxwiler move to the next phase of his design as long as it is within budget.
VI. Legal Issues relating to Boards and Commissions
City Attorney Steve Roy and Assistant City Attorney Ingrid Decker conducted an open discussion about
liability and conflict of interest issues pertaining to citizens serving on Boards and Commissions.

VII. Pedestrian Accessibility Project
Erika Keeton works with the city's Engineering Department to provide safe pedestrian access. Ms. Keeton
presented ideas for projects that could be incorporated in the creation new pedestrian routes as well as
improving on existing areas. Enhancements such as audio signals, elevated and colored crosswalks, and
ramps are added to the streetscape. Opportunities for art during these enhancements include; sandblasting
designs in the concrete, stone inserts and bronze inlays. Student artwork could be used as inspiration for
these pieces. At this time, it is the consensus of the board to proceed with this project creating bronze
pieces and researching other options for subsequent years.

Ms. Martin distributed written report of staff activities since last month's board meeting.
IX. Other business
Ms. Dale asked the Board for questions to ask the candidates for CLRS Director position.
