HomeMy WebLinkAboutCitizen Review Board - Minutes - 01/16/2002Citizen Review Board Regular Meeting Wednesday, January 16, 2002 City of Fort Collins CIC Room, City Hall West Present: Rick Aulino, Jim Butzek, Monica Garcia, Maria Martinez, and Jay Molock. Absent: Brian Carroll, Becky Richardson Staff: Lt. Karen Carlson, Greg Tempel, Wendy Hartzell Public: Parker Preble, HRC Liaison, Carole Stansfield Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 5:40 p.m. The November minutes were reviewed. Rick Aulino made a motion to approve the minutes as written. Jay Molok seconded the motion. No discussion and the motion carried 6-0. No meeting was held in December. Introduction of new Member: Jim Butzek was introduced and welcomed to the Board. His email address is jbutzek(nattbi.com. Absences: Brian Carroll and Becky Richardson both had excused absences. Voice Mail Message: No messages. Public: Parker Preble asked if the Human Relations Commission could exchange minutes with the Citizen Review Board. Lt. Carlson will follow-up with the HRC and make arrangements to forward approved minutes. Discussion of Cases Reviewed: None. Pending Cases: There is one case still in subcommittee but within its specified time constraints. Old Business: The 2002 Work Plan was reviewed and approved by Council Liaison Chuck Wanner. New Business: Becky Richardson is working on a soapbox article for The Coloradoan. New meeting time — A new meeting time was discussed. It was agreed that a later starting time would be helpful for several of the members. Rick Aulino made a motion that the starting of the Board meetings be changed to 6:00 p.m. Jay Molok seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 5-0. End of Year Report - Board members reviewed the report compiled by Lt. Carlson. Rick Aulino made a motion to accept the report as written. Monica Garcia seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 5-0. Questionnaire - Rick Aulino distributed a draft of the Questionnaire for the Board's review and discussion at next month's meeting. New Directive - Lt. Carlson passed out directives for policy books. The "Use of Force" directive will be coming soon. Pepper Ball Gun — Lt. Carlson will arrange for a one -hour demonstration at the Range of the new pepper ball gun. Adjournment: Rick Aulino made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Jay Molok seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 6-0. The meeting adjourned at 6:10 p.m. Next Meeting: Wednesday, February 20 at 6:00 p.m. at the Harmony Library, Harmonv and Shields. Chair 2
