HomeMy WebLinkAboutCitizen Review Board - Minutes - 03/20/2002Citizen Review Board Regular Meeting Wednesday, March 20, 2002 City of Fort Collins CIC Room Present: Rick Aulino, Brian Carroll, Monica Garcia, Maria Martinez, and Becky Richardson Absent: Jim Butzek, Jay Molok Staff: Lt. Karen Carlson, Wendy Hartzell Public: Parker Preble, Richard Miller, HRC Liaison Call to order: The meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. The February minutes were reviewed. Correction was noted to change Maria Martinez's last name on the second page. Rick Aulino made a motion to approve the minutes with the correction of Maria Martinez's name on the first page. Monica Garcia seconded the motion. There was discussion and the motion carried 5-0. Absences: Written advance notice was received from Jim Butzek. No notice was received from Jay Molok. Voice Mail Message: No messages. Public: Richard Miller reported on HRC activities. New Business: Discussion of Cases Reviewed: None. Pending Cases: None. Election of Officers: Becky Richardson made a motion to nominate Rick Aulino for Chair. Maria Martinez seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 5-0. Old Business: Discussion Items: Rick Aulino made a motion to nominate Becky Richardson as Vice Chair. Monica Garcia seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 5-0. Questionnaire - Rick Aulino is working on the questionnaire and will meet with Jim Butzek. Soapbox article — Rick Aulino's new version of the article was distributed and discussed. It should be printed in the paper in approximately three weeks. It was decided to add the voice mail number. Becky Richardson made a motion to approve the Soapbox article as written with the addition of the voice mail number, and, pending approval from the City Attorney's Office, she will send it out to the Coloradoan. It will be submitted without a picture. Maria Martinez seconded the motion. No discussion and the motion passed 5-0. Jenn Farrell is the police reporter for the Coloradoan. The only reporter who has attended a CRB meeting was Matt Benson, who is a City editor. Brian Carroll suggested inviting her to a meting. Becky Richardson volunteered to email an invitation to her. Preble Parker asked if special interest groups will be targeted after the questionnaire is sent out. Rick Aulino stated it will depend on what kind of response is returned from the letter. Becky Richardson attended the Board & Commission training and reported that it was very good. She stated that the CRB is the only board that sets its own agenda. Executive sessions were discussed at length and the CRB was used as an example. Adjournment: Rick Aulino made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Monica Garcia seconded the motion. There was no discussion and the motion passed 5-0. The meeting adjourned at 6:35 p.m. Next Meeting: Wednesday, April 17, at 6:00 p.m. at the Range, 2554 Midpoint Drive.
