HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 11/09/2022 1 City of Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board Minutes Wednesday November 9th 11:30 am In person meeting 1200 Raintree Drive Fort Collins Senior Center Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Fort Collins City Council on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community. I. Call to Order: 11:30am II. Public Participation a. Suzanne King, Dick Newtown, Joe Glomboski, McAllister Johnson III. Administrative Items a. Attendance: City Councilmember Susan Gutowski, Myles Crane,   Alan Kress, Mary Roberts, Gabby Rivera Excused: David Kovach, Alicia Durand, Deanna O’Connell, Jeanne Hoag, Nancy Luttropp. Staff members Sarah Olear, Lisa Hays. b. Not enough members present for a quorum.   IV. Guest Speaker: a. Barbara Bennett, MBA, Larimer County Sheriff’s office  Presentation regarding scams identified by the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office.  Important to inform all seniors of potential scams and how to avoid being caught by them. Scammers continue to get more sophisticated and are always working to catch people off guard. b. Rachel Ruhlen, FC Transportation Planner  Currently reviewing strategies for the vision zero action plan.  Request that all SAB members review the miro board and comment on areas that stand out, both positive and negative. https://miro.com/app/board/uXjVPIgR6wA=/  V. Member Bio  Alan Kress shared his bio, highlighting his work in Physical Therapy and working with seniors in their home.  He is also a member of the housing priority group and LCOA advisory council. VI. New Business a. 2nd Inter-municipal Board meeting debrief. Unanimous approval that we should continue to meet with Loveland SAB in the future. b. Discussion of ADU’s and land use code. VII. Ongoing initiatives a. Housing – train the trainer for future walkability studies. b. Safety Survey, has been sent to Columbine so far, looking for other agencies to send to. They are re-wording some of the questions for better understanding. c. Senior Center updates – Sarah shared the many changes currently happening in Recreation.  The Senior Center now has an additional supervisor, Sarah Gagne, specifically in charge of facility operations i.e., room reservation and set up, facility maintenance, etc.  Sarah Olear will continue to oversee programming for the Senior Center, Club Tico and ARO. 2 VIII.
