HomeMy WebLinkAboutSenior Advisory Board - Minutes - 07/13/2022 1 City of Fort Collins Senior Advisory Board Minutes Wednesday Ju ly 13, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. In-Person Meeting 1200 Raintree Drive Fort Collins Senior Center Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Fort Collins City Council on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community. I. Call to Order: a. 11:38 am start time II. Public Participation a. Barb Kistler shared information regarding the public event,“The Thing We Call Bias”. Registration is still available for the October 19th presentation. The training is from 5:30 to 7:30 with a light meal provided from 5-5:30 pm at the Fort Collins Senior Center. Attendance: councilmember Susan Gutowski, David Kovach, Nancy Luttropp, Alan Kress, Jeanne Hoag, Mary Roberts, Staff members Sarah Olear and Courtney Geary. Excused absences: Myles Crane, Alicia Durand and Deanna O’Connell. b. Approval of June Minutes: Motion: Jeanne Hoag; Seconded: Alan Kress. c. Correspondence: multiple emails to various city staff, Loveland SAB, HRC d. Six Month Calendar Update: August 23rd there is a Work session regarding the Housing Strategic plan. IV. New Business: a. Request that Human Relations Commission program invite to SAB addresses Ageism. b. Awaiting reply from Loveland for joint SAB Board meeting in Loveland in the Fall. c. Debrief: Future of Aging in Colorado Conference – Myles’ memo d. Discussion of Draft Memo to Council per June 8th SAB meeting. V. Member Bio: Nancy Luttropp a. Unavailable to provide bio. VI. Today’s Guest Speaker: a. Cortney Geary, FC Active Modes Manager, presented on the 15 Minute City project that Active Modes is initiating. The goal of the project is to analyze community member’s current commutes to required necessities like grocery stores, parks, public transportation etc. They hope to use the collected data to create trails, pathways, and other safe areas of travel which will allow for community members to reach necessities within 15 minutes. Questions or comments can be sent to Cortney at cgeary@fcgov.com. VII. Jeanne Hoag: Senior Center Update a. The Senior Center is now offering technology support through classes listed in the Recreator’s education section. The BOOTS program (Building on Outdoor Trails and 2 Stewardship-Hiking Club) is filling up with participants. Jeanne’s new program, Winter of my Life, is doing exceptionally well with 25 people enrolled with various presenters and activities scheduled. Her group can be found on page 81 of the virtual Recreator. VIII. Ongoing Initiatives Neighborhood Livability: PAFC Housing; report on manufactured homes - done and ready for printing. Other Housing Issues: No updates Transportation: Foothills Mall & Midtown FC Walk Audit 6/2/22 – comprehensive report from NRFMPO (N. Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization) & PAFC’s Access and Mobility Priority Group is in draft stages and will be shared with SAB when complete.
