HUMAN RELATIONS COMMISSION
Regular Meeting – Zoom Format
November 11, 2021 5:30 – 7:30 pm

CALL TO ORDER
● Meeting was called to order by Chair, Beth Jaeger, at 5:32pm
ROLL CALL

AGENDA REVIEW
● No changes were made to the agenda.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
● Approval of October 14th meeting minutes moved to January 2022 meeting.
PUBLIC PARTICIPATION
● None
BUDGET REVIEW
● HRC’s annual budget is $5,900. Projected 2021 costs as of today:
▪ $253 for TWP sessions
▪ $1200 for HR Awards
▪ Several expenses have yet to be submitted; final 2021 budget to be
reviewed in January 2022.
NEW BUSINESS
● 2021 Human Relationsns Awards - Tuesday, December 7th
o Review Nominations and Select Recipients ‒ All 2021 award recipients were
approved by the HRC (All in favor: 5-0).
Youth Award: Dylan Lindsey
Individual Award. Recipients: Miriam “Mims” Harris and Reverend
David Williams
Organization Award: ISAAC
Public Service Personnel: Anne Million
o Review Program Agenda and Assign Roles
■ Beth Jaeger to serve as emcee, and introduce Mayor Arndt
and Dylan Lindsey.
■ Jean Runyon to introduce Mayor Pro-Tem Emily Francis.
■ Vic Smith to present on the history of the award and painting,
and introduce Reverend David Williams.
■ Oscar Felix to introduce Mims Harris.
■ Phil Walker to introduce ISAAC.
■ Jean Runyon to introduce Anne Million.
■ Award Ceremony will be in-person with use of masks. Carol
will work on a way to broadcast the ceremony online and/or
record the program for those who cannot attend in-person.
■ Vic Smith and Beth Jaeger will send letters out to nominators,
award recipients and award nominees.
■ Vic Smith to order artwork for the five recipients.
■ Jean Runyon to order refreshments for the ceremony.
■ Zoom practice on December 1st from 1:00-2:00ppm.
■ All to arrive at City Hall on December 7th at 3:00pm to aid with
setup.
■ 2022 HRC Work Plan - Review/Revise Draft
No changes made to the 2022 work plan. Motion to approve by Wendy True.
Seconded by Oscar Felix. All in Favor: 5-0
OLD BUSINESS
■ Committee Reports:
o Education Outreach:
■ Much thanks to Phil Walker for organizing the “What
About White Privilege?” training sessions.
■ 19 attendees at the 1st session. 25 attendees at the 2nd.
■ Several participants are interested in forming a book club
to discuss books recommended by the program facilitator,
Tony Goggans.
o Media/Community Recognition Committee: see HR Awards notes
o Government Relations: no report
o Executive:
■ Wendy True will not be reapplying for membership with
HRC. Sincere appreciation to Carol Thomas, Wendy True,
and Vic Smith for their dedicated and impactful
contributions to the HRCʼs work.
■ It is anticipated that new HRC members will be attending
the January 2022 meeting.
■ The HRC 2021 Annual Report is due January 31, 2022. A
draft report will be reviewed at the January 2022 meeting.
NEXT STEPS: Beth will send out follow-up items.
