HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021 - Community Development Block Grant Commission - Annual Report HUMAN SERVICES AND HOUSING FUNDING BOARD ANNUAL REPORT: 2021 The Human Services and Housing Funding Board met a total of ten times during 2021. Eight were regular meetings and two were special Competitive Process-related meetings. One funding cycle was conducted in the spring. The Board held three evening meetings during the spring cycle to discuss the merits of the housing and human service grant proposals, and to determine funding recommendations to Council. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all meetings were conducted in a remote/online setting. During the regular meetings, the Board reviewed the funding process and discussed the status of some grantees. Learning Series presentations were hosted in 2021 and included visits from City staff regarding the City’s affordable housing priorities, the new Housing Strategic Plan, legal issues pertaining to serving on a City Board, as well as a presentation from the City’s Equity & Inclusion Coordinator. The Board also voted on a slate of funding proposals in February to award CVRF CV Round 2 federal stimulus funds to eligible programs in Fort Collins. Council Liaison, Tricia Canonico, joined the Board meeting in November to discuss issues of interest to the Board. The City’s ‘Reimagining Boards & Commissions’ was completed this year, and the Human Services & Housing Funding Board became the new, official name of the group, replacing the CDBG Commission name. Additional updates and revisions were also made to the Board’s anchor language in the City Code. The Board provided recommendations to City Council as to the allocation of the City’s FY21 CDBG and HOME entitlement grants, CDBG and HOME program income, AHF and HSP funds. Funding requests for human services were greater than available dollars so not all proposals submitted were funded. Adequate funding for the affordable housing projects was available, and all eligible projects therefore were fully funded.
