HomeMy WebLinkAbout2019 - Community Development Block Grant Commission - Annual Report COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT COMMISSION ANNUAL REPORT: 2019 The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Commission met a total of eleven times during 2019. Eight were regular meetings and three were special Competitive Process-related meetings. One funding cycle was conducted in the spring. The Commission held three evening meetings during the spring cycle to discuss the merits of the housing and human service grant proposals, to consult with the Affordable Housing Board and to determine funding recommendations to Council. During the regular meetings, the Commission reviewed the funding process and discussed the status of some grantees. A presentation from staff regarding the City’s affordable housing plan, as well as a presentation from the director of Homeward 2020 addressing the issue of homelessness, occurred during the year. A few Commission members also participated in the TBL-S pilot project events that occurred in the spring and fall. The Commission completed their Periodic Review in the fall of 2019, submitted their report to the City Clerk’s Office and met with their Council liaison to discuss items of interest from the review. The Commission provided recommendations to City Council as to the allocation of the City’s FY2019 CDBG and HOME entitlement grants, CDBG and HOME program income, AHF, HSP and KFCG funds. Funding requests were greater than available dollars so not all proposals submitted were funded.
