NET was started in 2012, they have been doing some of the pieces in policing for almost ten years, that many departments are just starting to do. Topics Covered: i. 8 officers, divided in to two teams, with two dedicated to only Campus West (partnered with CSU PD) ii. The NET is a catch all for many police services iii. In between Criminal Investigations Division and Patrol Division calls iv. Relational Policing is more impactful and effective v. Priorities: 1. Noise and Nuisance 2. Narcotics 3. Neighborhood Safety 4. Transients 5. Outreach vi. Patrol, buy backs of stolen property, unmarked cars, ununiformed, vii. CSU student referrals, Student housing call reduction and safety initiative, suspicious persons or peeper investigations viii. Technology with cameras, trackers, pole cameras ix. Case examples Questions: Community Services officers are different than NET 8. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS a. Melissa – attended a ride-along, Friday swing shift with Officer Chris Young. Noticed that he could recognize citizens that he had reported on before, people without housing or domestic calls that he knew before. Interesting that the storage for bodycam footage has to be kept for a long time. Council is talking about budget and that is one thing that City Council may not realize how important the evidence is and how costly it is to store. It is important to keep those funds in the City’s budget. Will be doing a sit-along with dispatch. b. Body cams should be on during any encounter with a citizen, they don’t record when driving around or at the station, but contacts with citizens are recorded. All governed by a policy when they can be turned off and on. 30 second buffer, it will go back 30 seconds from the time it’s turned on. c. Todd and Aaron will be doing ride-alongs soon. 9. OTHER BUSINESS 10. ADJOURNMENT - 6:15pm Motion to adjourn by Aaron, second by Todd. Unanimous
