APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Approval of June 2021 minutes moved to September 2021 meeting, since quorum was not
attained.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
NEW BUSINESS
Laura Valdez, Executive Director, Non-Profit Partner, Fort Collins Museum of Discovery –
Introduction
o Introduced herself to the board and listed previous work experience.
o Discussed management of the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery during the Covid-
19 Pandemic.
o Announced that Mental Health: Mind Matters Exhibit is returning on September 25,
2021, to the Museum.
o Discussed a partnership with the Poudre River Public Library School District
bringing the Book Mobile weekly to underserved communities.
Cultural Resources Board Future Meetings – Discussion
o The Cultural Resources Board discussed different formats for future board
meetings. The Board decided to revisit this item closer to the next meeting, then
decide on the preferred format. The Board also discussed the timing of the Board
meetings. The Board agreed to move the meeting start time to 5 pm to support
attendance. The Board discussed the August 2021 meeting and decided to cancel
the meeting due to vacations, etc.

2022 Cultural Resources Board 2022 Work Plan– Discussion
o Jim McDonald shared with the Board a draft of the 2022 Work Plan. He noted that
the plan is similar to the plan two years ago, with some minor changes, due to the
impact of COVID and not being able to support elements of the plan. Will Flowers
requested that if Board members have any comments to, or edits for, the Work Plan,
to please forward them to him or Jim McDonald. The Board decided to move the
Work Plan discussion to the September 23rd meeting.
2022 City Budget Process
o Jim McDonald outlined the City’s Budgeting for Outcomes process and noted the
several budget offers the Department has submitted, including two enhancement
offers that support action items in the Arts and Cultural Master Plan.
National Endowment for the Arts, American Rescue Plan Act, Grants to Local Arts
Agencies for Subgranting – Update
o Jim McDonald shared that the Cultural Services Department will be applying for an
NEA, American Rescue Plan Act, Grants to Local Art Agencies grant for $250,000.
This grant will give money to the City to subgrant to local non-profit (501c3)
organizations. If awarded, this will be done through ZoomGrants and the Board will
review applications similar to how Fort Fund grants are processed. The Board gave
their full support.
DIRECTOR’S REPORT
BOARD MEMBER REPORTS
Jennifer Zidon will be attending the Jody Hollander Poetry W riting Workshop on
7/24/21 at the Gardens on Spring Creek.
OTHER BUSINESS
Jim McDonald shared that a liaison is needed for the APP board.

Vicki Fogel-Mykles made a motion to adjourn at 6:50 PM. Jennifer Zidon seconded the
motion. The motion passed unanimously. Approved by roll call, Ayes: Will Flowers (Chair),
Vicki Fogel Mykles (Vice Chair), Jennifer Zidon.
