Guest introductions a. Lorye Mcleod PAFC III. Public Input IV. Administrative Items a. Attendance i. Alan Kress, Myles crane, Deanna O’Connell, Ruby Suz, Alicia Durand, Greg Wells, Zach Delissio, Nancy Luttropp ii. Excused: Sarah Schilz, David Kovach b. Correspondence/Motion Re. Letter to City Council - Heard back from Mayor and mayor pro tem. - Safe community was a priority of council. - Expand mental health response team. c. Approval of Minutes i. Approved by Deanna O’Connell ii. Seconded by Alan Kress V. New Business: Discussion Topics with Guest Presenters d. Ross Cunniff - Recent Mayor Pro Tem - SAB will acknowledge his service. Addressing issues pertinent to senior community in Fort Collins. i. 8 years on psd board of education ii. 8 years on city council iii. Transit: a lot more we could do between school district and city. Integrate schedules do serve the community better. Cost advantage to both organizations. iv. Propose a motion by Myles: SAB propose to council an integration of the transportation systems. Alicia Durand will work on proposal with Ross. Seconded by Nancy Luttropp. Unanimous approval. 2 v. Metro Districts: special property taxing district. Established at the time of a creation of a sub development. Charge residents or businesses extra taxes. Concern is that statewide there have been many cases of “abusing” of the tax. vi. Hughes open space and affordable housing. Hopeful that the city and CSU will reset the relationship and come up with a bigger picture for the open space. e. Lorye Mcleod, Exec. Dir., PAFC, Addressing Lifelong Colorado Plan – final report. i. Colorado is one of the healthiest states in the country. ii. Top ten for life expectancy in the country. iii. Older adults will outnumber the younger demographics by 2023 iv. A lot of different agencies were acknowledged for their assistance with Lifelong Colorado. v. Proactively planning will benefit Colorado as our demographics change. f. DeBriefs: Empowering Caregivers Through Technology, Intergenerational Conversations/Civic Saturday, and Reframing Aging in Social Media i. Empowering caregivers through technology: Myles can send link out for presentation if needed. ii. Intergenerational Conversations/Civic Saturday: How music impacts our lives? How is music important to your daily life? Music can bring community together iii. Reframing aging in Social Media: Myles will see about getting materials to share at future meeting. VI Ongoing initiatives a. SAB Member Bio: Sarah Schilz (deferred to October 13th) a. Deanna will present next month. b. City Council’s Six Month Calendar g. Senior Center Community Update (Staff Liaison) i. Put weblink and time meeting starts. VII Neighborhood Livability Activities SAB Outreach and Updates IX ANNOUNCEMENTS Governor’s Senior Policy Advisor, Jarett Hughes to address SAB on June 9. He will talk about how state work ties in with local government.
