HomeMy WebLinkAboutCultural Resources Board - Minutes - 03/25/2021Cultural Resources Board SPECIAL MEETING Thursday, March 25, 2021 – 5:30 PM Remote Meeting via Zoom due to COVID-19 3/25/21– MINUTES Page 1 CALL TO ORDER: 5:30 PM ROLL CALL  Board Members Present – Will Flowers (Chair), Zackery Klassen, Vicki Fogel Mykles (Vice Chair), Jennifer Zidon  Board Members Absent - Jean McGinnis, Aquiles Quiroga  Staff Members Present - Jim McDonald, Liz Irvine, Jaime Jones, Ellen Martin  Guests – Katy Schneider, Director of Marketing, Visit Fort Collins AGENDA REVIEW CITIZEN PARTICIPATION APPROVAL OF MINUTES Consideration and approval of the minutes from February 25, 2021. Vicki Fogel Mykles made a motion to accept the minutes. Jennifer Zidon seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Approved by roll call, Ayes: Will Flowers, Zackery Klassen, Vicki Fogel Mykles, Jennifer Zidon. UNFINISHED BUSINESS NEW BUSINESS  Katy Schneider, Director of Marketing, Visit Fort Collins – Update o Lodging tax was down 40% year to date (January and February). o Tourism Business Improvement District has been approved by City Council for first reading.  2021 Fort Fund Project Support Grant – Discussion and Funding Recommendations o The Board discussed and reviewed twenty-one 2021 Project Support applications. The Board recommended funding twenty-one organizations for a total of $184,000. Zackery Klassen requested a question revision for next year’s grants. He noted that there needs to be more description of the event. Jim McDonald noted that the changes could be captured in revised guidelines. Vicki Fogel Mykles made a motion to accept the funding recommendations. Zackery Klassen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. Approved by roll call, Ayes: Will Flowers, Zackery Klassen, Vicki Fogel Mykles, Jennifer Zidon. This will go to City Council on April 20, 2021. o The recommendations are listed on page 3.  Ellen Martin, Visual Arts Director, City of Fort Collins - Art in Public Places Presentation o 25th Anniversary of Art in Public Places. o Noted that the Program completed 57 murals: 28 transformer cabinets, 13 pianos, 15 downtown restaurant barriers and a 190-foot-long community mural. Ellen Martin replied $1250 dollars. o It was noted that four 2021 Call for Artists have been translated into Spanish to reach a more broad and diverse audience. DIRECTOR’S REPORT  Jim McDonald shared good news. The Fort Collins Museum of Discovery and The Lincoln Center have both received 100k grants from the State’s Covid Relief Bill. Zackery Klassen shared that that his business, Rythm EFX had also received a 75k grant. The Lincoln Center is moving forward with a search for a Theater Operations Manager. This position has been frozen for the last twelve months. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS Jennifer Zidon shared that Sustain Music and Nature currently has a podcast. This is accessible through their social media. OTHER BUSINESS ADJOURNMENT:  Jennifer Zidon made a motion to adjourn at 6:26 PM. Zackery Klassen seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
