The Air Quality Advisory Board (AQAB) advises the City of Fort Collins Council on policies, plans,
programs, and ordinances that aim to improve the City’s air quality. The AQAB will coordinate with and
advise other City boards, City staff, and regional authorities on air quality issues. The AQAB by-laws,

Major AQAB Goals for 2021:
1. Provide City of Fort Collins Council formal communication by end of year on following topics:
a. Progress on City of Fort Collins goal to have 100% of light-duty fleet vehicles be electric
vehicles (EV) by 2025
b. Current estimated penetration of EVs in City of Fort Collins
c. Recommendations (as necessary) on path forward to achieve goals (policy,
infrastructure, etc.)
2. Provide City of Fort Collins Council formal communication regarding adoption of City of Fort
Collins oil and gas regulations.
3. Provide City of Fort Collins Council formal communication by end of year on programs and
associated progress for energy efficiency and indoor air quality (building air sealing, radon
testing/mitigation, etc.) in alignment with City of Fort Collins 2019 Air Quality Plan
a. The Board would specifically focus efforts on program progress towards associated goals
and data metrics
AQAB Focus Areas for 2021:
1. Address planning, development and policy decisions that have the potential to positively or
negatively affect local and regional ozone levels in Fort Collins and make actionable
recommendations to mitigate ozone.
2. Continue to recommend new city policy and enforcement practices related
to indoor air quality to implement recommended changes.
3. Continue to promote comprehensive education to the community on air
quality impacts and how individual actions can contribute to air quality.
4. Address unanticipated air quality issues and respond to requests from City Council
for advice on any subjects relevant to air quality.
5. Advise Council on any opportunities that might arise for the City to participate in
and influence air quality-related decisions affecting Fort Collins but falling under
the jurisdiction of county, regional, state or national air quality authorities.
6. Support City staff in their efforts to propose and/or implement policies to improve
City’s air quality.
