Virtual Meeting via City of Fort Collins Remote Technology
Mission: The Senior Advisory Board shall serve in an advisory capacity y to the Fort Collins City
Council on programs and policies that help aging citizens live full and interesting lives and continue to
contribute, participate, and share in the life of the community.

IV. Public Participation – Jenny Hinkie, Vira Vissa
a. Vira – She will send full list of concerns in email.
b. Kudos to health district for cholesterol screening
V. Featured Speaker: Yvonne Myers, Columbine Health Systems Director
- Expect mask requirements in the future. Foresee Nov-April it will be required, especially when
visiting nursing homes.
- Sue Schaefer – Adopt a neighbor program.
o Over 400 people registered for program. Individuals paired with a neighbor who needs
help getting groceries, walking dogs, or anything they might need.
o Using Facebook portal devices to help seniors with technology difficulties.
o Biggest barrier has been Wi-Fi.
VI. Discussion: Community support for older adults during pandemic
a. Myles- City has not been using technology to reach Seniors.
i. brought up the need for more programs for seniors and the social activities.
Referenced bingo and donut make you wonder.
b. Vira – has been challenged with how to express themselves. Tired of meetings with
PowerPoints and packets. Wants to be heard and have opportunities to be listened too.
i. Needs to be bottom up and not top down.
c. Yvonne – was asked how prepared we are for 2nd wave of COVID
i. PPE is available. Only shortage is on gowns.
ii. Feels much better prepared than she did March.
iii. Same goes for contract tracing.
iv. More concerned about topic of seniors being in isolation and the negative effects
that come with that.
d. Deanna – redeployment with UC health.

Neighborhood Livability: Community Outreach
Partnership for Age-Friendly Communities – Lorye Mcleod
- Virtual concert. Accessible on youtube.
- Pilot project to try and work with isolation of adults. Zoom platform.
- Looking for funding to bring together a coalition.
- Myles shared video of Home is where the music is. By Colorado artist. Virtual concert to beneft
our oldest generations.
Larimer County Office on Aging – Jody Shadduck - Mcnally
Intergenerational Conversations Project – Jody
- Started in 2017. Started as way to connect teens with isolated seniors.
- Started an online version with Zoom in May. Planning another for August and Sept.
