o CALL TO ORDER
o Meeting was called to order by Chairperson Julia Mackewich at 5:30 pm

o Wendy True moved to accept the 8/8/19 agenda as is. Second – Phil Walker. Vote to approve: 6-0
o APPROVAL OF MINUTES.
o Colleen Conway moved that the 7/11/19 minutes be approved as is. Second by Phil Walker.
Vote to approve: 6-0
o Wendy True moved that the 7/25/19 Education & Community Outreach Committee Minutes be
approved as is. Colleen Conway seconded. Vote to approve: 6-0

o Educational & Community Outreach Committee Meeting 7/25/19
It is recommended that we use the fall educational program to target potential facilitators for
Cracking the Codes. The idea being trained facilitators can take the program back to their
organizations and broaden the audiences for Cracking the Codes.
Tony Goggans is available to teach two sessions 9/28/19 & 10/5/19
Each session would last 4 hours. Session 1: Potential facilitators would watch & discuss
Cracking the Codes. Session 2: Training on how to facilitate CTC. (this is an opt in/opt out
session)
Discussion as to ability to train facilitators. Must have trainers who have the skills. Narrow the
field of potential facilitators.
Discussion to be continued after New Business
o NEW BUSINESS
o Emily Gorgol, City Council Member, Liaison to HRC. Meet, greet and discuss.
Introduction. Background. Vision
Explanation of what the HRC does
Communication between E. Gorgol, HRC and City Council
Request that CC speak out when events occur that impact equity and inclusion
Possibility of critical response team. What is already in place?
Possible restructuring of Boards & Commissions
Collaboration among Boards & Commissions. Next topic: Climate future
Student liaison. Amending City Code.
Funding for Multicultural Community Retreat
Julia will send minutes to Emily. Will communicate with Emily regarding requests, concerns,
activities, etc.
o RETURN TO UNFINISHED BUSINESS
o Decision made to move forward with training facilitators for CTC
o Recommended names. Forward additional to Julia
o Julia will draft invitation letter
o Request use of FRCC facilities for 9/28 & 10/5
o Motion to send out the invitations to potential facilitators made by Wendy True. Second by Eva
Amason. Vote to approve: 8-0
