2018 ANNUAL REPORT Page 1
2018 Members: Nancy DuTeau (Chair), Luke Caldwell (Vice-Chair), Jay Adams, Barry Noon, Drew
Derderian, Elizabeth Hudetz, Robert Mann, Ling Wang, and Danielle Buttke.
In 2018, the Natural Resources Advisory Board (NRAB) held ten regular meetings during which 35
agenda items were addressed, resulting in ten memoranda sent to City Council. A Joint Work Session
was held August 22 with the Land Conservation & Stewardship Board, The Water Board and The
Energy Board. The June regular meeting was cancelled due to lack of a quorum; the December
meeting was cancelled due to lack of business. Input to City Council was based on presentations by
Staff and outside experts with discussion. Additional items of interest provided education for the
Board, provided updates on current projects, and allowed us to be a sounding board for Staff. We
would like to express our appreciation for the professionalism and dedication of Staff.
The table below lists agenda items considered and formal actions taken by the NRAB during 2018.
These agenda items fall within the priority areas addressed by the NRAB and reflect the agenda items
scheduled for council in 2018. Additional items were added when requested by council or staff.
Priority areas for NRAB include Waste Reduction and Recycling; Water Resources; Road to Zero
Waste; Climate Action Plan; and Transportation Planning.
During 2018, one member of the NRAB served as a designated representative to the Bicycle Advisory
Committee, one member served as a designated representative to the West Nile Virus Tac, one
member served as liaison to the Sustainability (Triple Bottom Line) Group Board and Commission
Supergroup Planning, two members participated in the North Front Range Regional Wasteshed
Planning Study, and two members participated in the Harmony Gateway Plan Update as part of the
City Plan Update process. One member did a study for us: ADA parking: downtown & Max ADA
parking availability. A number of citizens attending meetings were graduate students from CSU
College of Natural Resources. Several professors have assigned NRAB meetings as part of projects
in resource policy and management courses.
