Mason Street | Civic Center Conference Room 1. CALL TO ORDER a. The meeting was called to order at 6:05 pm by Hannah Little. 2. ROLL CALL a. Board Members: Hannah Little, Melanie Potyondy, Shana Ryken, Emily Gorgol, Lexie Kuznick, Erma Woodfin, Alyssa de la Torre, Kori Wilford b. Staff liaison: Shannon Hein c. Guest speaker Mike O’Connell, Director of Larimer Small Business Development Center 3. AGENDA REVIEW a. No changes to agenda 4. CITIZEN PARTICIPATION a. No citizen participation 5. PRESENTATION BY MIKE O’ CONNELL, DIRECTOR OF LARIMER SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER a. Mr. O’Connell provided an overview of the services and resources available to entrepreneurs in Larimer County who are seeking to start or grown their businesses. ▪ Discussion of the unique needs of women and mothers when starting or owning a business, including childcare and parental leave. ▪ Mr. O’Connell shared a recent article from “Ink” Magazine that addresses the gender pay gap and it was discussed. 6. APPROVAL OF MINUTES a. December 2018 meeting minutes approved as written. 7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS a. Review of Annual Report (due Jan 31) ▪ Discussion of activities and accomplishments in 2018 ▪ Wilford to complete Annual Report and send to Hein by 1/28/19 ▪ Google Doc shared with Commission Members to make additions and edits before 1/27/19 WOMEN’S COMMISSION REGULAR MEETING MINUTES 1/16/2019 – Minutes Page 1 b. Discussion of Annual Retreat on Feb 23rd 9am-1pm ▪ Send discussion items to Hannah • Agenda for retreat to include: icebreaker, officer elections, review of focus areas (potentially reframe current terms from negative to positive, i.e. “poverty” to “self-sufficiency,”) CEDAW next-steps, 2019 guest speaker/topic selections, discussion of Commission budget and how-to best use in 2019, proclamations, council meetings. ▪ Take burrito orders and reminder to bring snacks • The group decided to just have coffee in the morning instead of breakfast burritos and then to order lunch. ▪ Reminder of upcoming officer election • Discussion of roles and responsibilities of each officer for members to consider 8. NEW BUSINESS a. Announcement and welcome of new members ▪ Erma Woodfin and Alyssa del la Torre are new members who joined for their first meeting. b. Community Engagement committee- request from FOCO NOW  Shannon will talk with Amanda Mansfield of FOCO NOW and City employee about their interests. FOCO NOW is welcome to attend regular meetings and have someone act as a liaison if interested. 9. BOARD MEMBER REPORTS a. Proclamation(s) and City Council attendance ▪ Shannon will load 2019 proclamation schedule in the shared folder. ▪ February 4 – Super Issues Meeting ▪ March 5 – Women’s History Month b.
