9-9:10 Introductions & Icebreaker: Shana to lead
9:10-12:30 Brainstorming and vision casting for this year's direction.
(at least one stretch break to be taken)
● Discussion of this years goals and focus
○ By-Laws reviewed
○ More educational opportunities for community on women’s issues
■ Invite community to Commission’s speaker presentations for first 45
minutes of monthly meetings
○ Council communications are important
■ A template is available to organize thoughts around specific issues
■ Kori, Melanie, and Erma will head up Council Communications Committee
● Stays abreast of important issues that Women’s Commission
wants to have input to Council on
● Creates talking points and background information to place on
internal Drive
● Designated Commission member will attend Council meeting to
provide public comment on issue
● Specific discussion on wording for priority areas
● Officer elections
○ Chair - Hannah was voted in to continue being Chair
○ Vice-Chair - Shana was voted in to be Vice-Chair
○ Secretary - Kori was voted in to continue as Secretary
○ Unofficial roles: storyteller (pr, media, Google drive maint, etc)
■ Archivist - maintaining Google Drive - Lyssa will take on responsibility
■ Publications and Social Media - Melanie will be responsible for sending
items to City
● Committee election
○ CEDAW
■ Lexie and Shana are planning to visit other Boards and Commissions to
ask for support for CEDAW resolution. They will schedule brief meetings
to ask for support.
● Human Relations
● Youth
● Senior Advisory
● Disability
■ Another step would be garnering support from the larger community in
order to ask City to implement actions if the memo passes
■ Councilperson Stephens suggested taking action after the April City
Council elections
■ Suggestion to reach out to other Colorado communities who are in the
process of having a CEDAW resolution
■ The CEDAW Committee is planning to meet at 7:00 pm on Thursday,
March 7 at the Harmony Library at the Front Range Community College
campus.
○ Street Naming Project
■ Hannah updated the Commission on the history of the Street Naming
project.
■ Lexie suggested that we touch base with Ted in Planning at the City to
determine next steps. Shannon will follow-up to determine:
● What else do they need from us?
● What are they doing with list we provided?
● How can we influence the selection of new street names?
● How can Commission be informed when a street is named for a
woman who is on the list? How can we leverage awareness of the
importance of recognition of the accomplishments of women in
Fort Collins.

○ Current annual budget is $1000
○ Shannon is exploring how to request an increase.
○ Discussion of proposed budget for enhancing the work of the Commission

○ Ideas include: Homeless Gear events, Food Bank, trail maintenance,

○ The Commission agrees that we would like to be a part of this with the City of
Fort Collins to help review impacts of their projects and programs
