The meeting was called to order at 12:17pm. Introductions were made and the minutes were approved as presented
(Motion H. Hueber/2nd M. Boylan).
OPEN DISCUSSION
• Marilee Boylan asked if a date had been set for a recumbent bike ride along with Rustin Hughes and city
employees. The question was referred to the contingent from FC Moves (Adaptive Biking).
• Mandy Morgan of the Harmony Apartments presented more information about safety challenges related to the
upcoming multi-family development to be built adjacent to the Harmony Apartment complex. In particular, we
discussed the safety of crosswalks and access to a single drive into both complexes. It was reported that the
crosswalk will be raised, but there is no plan at this time for a flashing crossing signal. Additional signage will be
installed. Mandy provided photographs of the drainage ditch from St. Peter’s Church to Front Range Baptist
Church. There is no sidewalk there. The city reported that this has been brought to the attention of Rob
Moseby and that it may be possible that this area will be prioritized by the Sidewalk Prioritization Model.
NEW BUSINESS
• FC Moves gave a presentation regarding the installation of Bike Share. They specifically asked for commission
input on the number and types of adaptive bikes that might benefit the community. Several questions came up,
including the capability to carry a wheelchair on the adaptive bikes presented, their cargo capacity, and the
possibility of recumbent bikes. The fee structure was presented. At this time, there is no information on
whether a discounted fee could be available for Bike Share users who have disabilities.
• Aaron Iverson presented a review of the Harmony Corridor Plan. The goal will be to have High Capacity Transit
available along Harmony Road, with a E/W Max-type system to connect to the existing N/S Max.
• Alex Gordon from North Front Range Metropolitan Planning Organization gave a presentation of current
planning and provided the commission with their brochure compiling transportation options for riders with
disabilities. Also discussed was Dial-A-Taxi and its possible expansion, subsidizing Uber/Lyft, and the Liberty
App. This app is a resource to identify drivers who are trained to work with older riders and riders with
disabilities.
ELECTIONS
Elections were postponed to the May 2017 meeting.
With no Unfinished Business or News & Updates being presented for discussion, the meeting was adjourned at 2:15pm.
