1. Introductions
2. Approval of Minutes: April –Schlicting moved to approve Marr seconded.
3. Open Discussion:
Misty Guregroy shared with the COD her son’s story. Misty is looking for more
school services, one-on-one staff and transportation to get children with special
needs to after school care if parents are working. She also made the commission
aware of the need for large changing tables in public bathrooms. Misty feels most of
these programs need more funding. The COD brainstormed on these issues.
3. New Business:
• Ginny Sawyer talked about short-term rental licensing in the City of Fort Collins
and the requirements to be considered accessible. If the rentals are accessible
the city will wave the licensing fee. The COD talked with Sawyer on the words
that will be used to make this understood by the renters and those who apply
for the waved fee.
• Belmont gave a West Elizabeth study presentation. She informed the
commission on the progress being made. Belmont gave the COD a project
summary handout. This is a two to five year plan. Some of the bus routes
changes will happen in August of 2016. The commission took a vote to approve
the study and the vote was approved unanimously.
4. Old Business:
• Mayor’s Awards update was giving by Hueber. Hueber told the COD she would
be stepping down from the commission. A formal letter will be sent to the city
to inform them of her departure.
• A public events follow up was given by McCarthy. She had little information
about changes being made. Commission would still like more information on if
the changes have been put in place.
• Handicap parking in the downtown area of Fort Collins was discussed.
McCarthy will send an email with a parking map of the downtown before next
meeting. The COD will look over the map and give recommendations.
• McCarty gave a report of the National ADA symposium she attended. She
handed out a summary of sessions attended and lessons learned by attendees.
5. Community News and Updates:
• No community news or updates
Schlicting moved to adjourn. Efird seconded.
Meeting adjourned at 2:38 pm.
