3. Open Discussion:
a. Schlicting passed a letter that will be sent to Fort Collins City Council
Members. The letter states the COD would like to offer our input and
support for updating bus stops and sidewalks, also supporting the
funding of Sunday bus service. The commission approved the letter.
b. Schlicting told of his New West Fest experience. After hearing his
experience at the Fest all of the commission members feel that more
training needs to be done by the security company that is being used for
City events. Also more thought and plans need to be put in place for this
festival. The COD will contact the city Special Events coordinator.
4. New Business:
a. Frisen and Kisling gave a park presentation on the new SE Community
Park. The COD gave input, suggesting raised garden beds, family asset
bathrooms, adult changing tables and a ramp in to the stream. The parks
team was very receptive to the ideas given and will look for grants to
make the park more ADA assessable.
b. Heinze the Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor listened to the ideas given
by the COD and Guregroy on adding adult sized changing tables to some
of the restrooms in Parks and Recreation facilities. This started the
conversation on getting the funds and where the money would come
from and how much funding is available. Heinze said she would take the
information back to the endowment committee. The adult changing
tables would be the priority.
5. Old Business:
a. Mayor’s Luncheon- Reminder was giving for the subcommittee meeting
that will be held on September 22nd
at 12:15 in the Council Information
Center.
b. Boylan gave information on the up coming City Council meeting on
October 4th
2016 at 5:30. It would be nice to have COD members at the
meeting to give our support for funding to provide bus service on
Sundays.
6. Community News and Updates:
a. No community news or updates
Schlicting moved to adjourn. Reichow seconded.
Meeting adjourned at 1:45 pm.
