Fort Collins City Hall: Council Information Center 12:15 p.m.
Thursday, June 8th, 2017
Present: Leslie Efird, Jan Barela-Smith, Hettie Hueber, Terry Schlicting, Sherri Reichow,
Rustin Hughes, Marilee Boylan, Michael Marr, John Morris
City: Ali Recio, Ray Martinez, Carol Thomas, Jan Sawyer, Rob Mosbey
Guests: Doug Buffington, Arianna Kilmer, Cora Hueber
Call to Order: 12:30 p.m.
1. Introductions:
A. Carol Thomas introduced herself as the new City of Fort Collins Equal Opportunity
and Compliance Manager. She also thanked the COD for all of our work and support
for Sunday bus service.
2. Approval of Minutes: May-Minutes passed, Boylan moved to approve Reichow
seconded.
3. Open Discussion: No open discussion
4. New Business:
A. Jan Sawyer, Special Events Coordinator updated the commission on what she has
been working on for the upcoming Fort Collins public events. (The focus on New
West Fest) With her was Doug Buffington of the Atlas Group. Atlas Group is
contracted to do the security, safety and emergency planning for the New West
Fest. Buffington talked about the different venues with Mountain being the main
subject of conversation. The COD gave feedback on their own experiences and ideas
for improvements. Buffington took the information provided. He said he would
work on implementing improvements. Staff training will be a priority. Some COD
members offered to help with the planning process.
B. Rob Mosbey, of City of Fort Collins Engineering let the Commission know that the
Harmony road sidewalk plan may be moved up on the City priority list after
learning about safety concerns that the COD brought to their attention. The City
may have extra money in the budget to use on this project. Mosbey will be back in
the future with the results of the census data taken in the City of Fort Collins to
share the information with the commission.
5. Unfinished Business:
A. Election of the secretary position: Efird Hueber/Reichow Motion passed
B. Bike along with the City Council, waiting on dates when the council is available.
C. Mayor’s Awards discussion, Subcommittee meetings will take place on June 22, July
27th and Aug 24th. There was talk about inviting the Mayor to a subcommittee
meeting to hear his thoughts on the awards directly from him. The Commission
members will look over the Country club menu for the meal choices.
6. Community News and Updates:
A. Reichow shared information about the Ability Fest that will be taking place on July
26th at Spring Canyon Park form 4-8. She talked about getting the word out to
vendor’s the public and volunteers. She invited the COD and welcomed any help on
the Fest that the commission could provide.
Schlicting moved to adjourn. Boylan seconded.
