Seven were regular meetings and five were special Competitive Process-related meetings. One funding cycle was conducted in the spring. The Commission held four evening meetings during the spring cycle to listen to presentations by housing and public service applicants and one evening meeting to make funding recommendations to Council. During the regular meetings the Commission discussed the four funding sources: federal CDBG and HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) programs, the City’s Affordable Housing Fund (AHF) and Human Service Program (HSP). The Commission also examined their role in monitoring grantees post-award and explored methods for awarding grants when federal allocations had not yet been released. They also wrote a letter of gratitude for the City Council’s increase to the HSP budget, received a gap analysis presentation from a grantee, and discussed United Way’s evolving funding model. They also reviewed the funding process and discussed the status of some grantees. The Commission provided recommendations to City Council as to the allocation of the City’s FY2017 CDBG and HOME entitlement grants, CDBG and HOME program income, AHF, HSP and KFCG funds.
