OUTREACH
In September the Board co-sponsored the annual Bridging the Gap event with the Larimer County
Office on Aging and the Loveland Senior Advisory Board. This year’s program was a performance of
the Fort Collins SOAP Troupe.
The Board had been involved in the following:
Partnership for Age Friendly Communities
In January, PAFC, on behalf of Larimer County, was awarded the prestigious national designation as an
AARP Age-friendly Community. Throughout the year, the Board supported PAFC initiatives for Fort
Collins and surrounding communities in PAFC’s four priority areas for seniors 1) access and mobility,
2) housing, 3) health and wellness and 4) culture of aging. In October the Senior Center hosted a
Candidates Forum for seniors with over 100 attendees. The Forum was sponsored by the PAFC, the
Larimer County Office on Aging and CSU’s Center for Public Deliberation.
Senior Transportation Coalition
Larimer County Commissioners have decided to hire a consultant to study transportation needs for the
rural sections of the county. The STC will act as a focus group for these consultants.
Liaisons with Other Senior Groups
SAB members continued communication with an identified network of groups and organizations that
have some impact on aging.
