Introductions 2. Approval of February Minutes: Arndt moved, Robinson seconded 3. Open Discussion: Beth Rosen has been invited to present to the COD about affordable housing in Fort Collins. 1.5 million dollars per year through the City to subsidize affordable housing. To see land bank properties, go to the Fort Collins website (http://www.fcgov.com/sustainability/). People don’t know where to go to access housing that is both affordable and accessible. This is possibly where we, as a Commission, could come in. Example: there is information on a senior website for available senior housing. Education for landlords about Section 504, if they take federal funds. New projects can be found in the City website under planning and zoning. Join www.housingcolorado.org Beth Rosen: 221‐6812 brosen@fcgov.com 4. How can we collaborate with the Affordable Housing Commission? Dan wants to understand the needs better. 5. Jeff Coon suggested that our mission is to understand what needs to be done. Can we get a list of accessible units? That way we could make those units public. Beth thought that maybe she could go back through some of the applications to get a list of accessible units for the COD. Care housing units are built new. Housing Authority usually buys and re‐habilitates units. 6. Bill Reinke is the director of Care Housing. We could invite him to the COD or to the subcommittee meeting to provide more information. 7. We could partner with the Senior Commission with some common concerns about accessible housing. 8. Practical housing for all—on the City website. Visibility, aging in place, etc. We can table that discussion for the sub‐committee. One meeting could we invite the HBA to help them understand our discussions. 9. Article in the paper featuring Mike and Terry. 10. Ethan: hearing loop update. We will be able to do Lincoln Center, North side Center, and Senior Center. $174,000 from City Council to install the hearing loops. This money covers the above, but not as many as we had proposed. North side Center—two weeks. Lincoln Center—June. Senior Center will be done with the re‐model. 11. Date for Mayor’s awards. 3rd Thursday in October—October 17th. Subcommittee meeting from 1:00‐2:00 pm second Thursday in May Robinson moved to adjourn, Arndt seconded. Adjourn: 1:55 p.m. Submitted By: Jeni Arndt
