3. Open Discussion:
a. Ray Martinez introduced himself and shared his contact information with
the Commission.
4. New Business:
a. Laura Scott told the commission about a free program that is available to
the pubic. This is a completely free phone for the hearing impaired. The
CapTel 840 is a phone that has a screen for the user to read what the user
on the other end is saying. We are encouraged to pass this information
on to those who would benefit.
b. Robert Mosbey informed the commission on the pedestrian improvement
program. A sidewalk assessment was done in 2012-2013 and a
prioritization and improvement program plan was formed. We were
polled for our preferences about sidewalk needs in Fort Collins.
c. An email had been forwarded to the commission about a citizens concern
about the availability of handicap parking in Fort Collins. The
Commission decided Hueber would send an email to the Coloradoan and
ask if the newspaper would be interested in doing an informational piece
about the importance of proper uses of handicap spaces in Fort Collins.
Boylan volunteered to find out want information is handed out at the
time a handicap placard is given.
5. Old Business:
a. Schlicting told us about his Transfort sidewalk and bus stop tour. He
felt that Transfort was very receptive and hopes they receive more
funds to this project. Schlicting is going to send an email and ask
about sidewalk and bus stop prioritization.
b. Transfort updates and recommendation letter - Boylan handed out an
Action Alert to urge the City Council to make our bus stops ADA
compliant. Asked that a few of the committee members could try and
make the June 16th
City Council meeting. She also handed out the
draft for the transportation platform. We will spend some time
looking the draft over and discuss at our next meeting.
6. Adjourn:
Miller moved to adjourn. Efird seconded.
