A regular meeting of the Liquor Licensing Authority was held June 5, 2014 in Municipal Court, 215
North Mason. Judge Kathleen M. Lane presiding.

Hearing on a New Application from Trader Joe's Company,
for a 3.2% - beer off premise license at Trader Joe's #304,
3500 South College Avenue, #110, Approved
Officer Dan Guajardo, representative for Trader Joe's Company, was sworn. He stated he currently
serves as the'Captain' (general manager) for the Trader Joe's in Greenwood Village, Colorado. He stated
that Trader Joe's Company will hire a new person to act as 'Captain' for this location. Mr. Guajardo
stated he has worked for 13 different Trader Joe's and briefly described his background. He stated he
has been the captain for three previous stores, all of which have 3.2% beer licenses. Mr. Guajardo stated
they are a national chain of neighborhood grocery stores. He stated they operate over 400 locations, that
there are three other stores in Colorado that are currently open. Mr. Guajardo stated this location will
open this fall. He stated that they have not located a 3.2% beer distributor. Mr. Guajardo stated they
will hire approximately 80 employees of which 10 will be management. He stated that each store has
one Captain, 3-15 mates (assistant managers). Mr. Guajardo stated that all employees will need to
complete 20+ hours of training specifically addressing the safe sale and service of alcohol. He stated if
an alcohol beverage is scanned at the register will require a date of birth to be entered before the sale
can proceed. Mr. Guajardo stated that anyone purchasing 3.2% beer must have a valid id if they appear
to be 30 years of age or under. He stated cashiers are instructed to call a manager if there are any
problems or concerns regarding a potentially intoxicated patron. Judge Lane asked the licensee to
provide copy of the curriculum to the deputy City Clerk.
Sue Duffy Schwal, representative for Liquor Licensing Professionals, was sworn She stated her
company conducted the petitioning for this application and that it demonstrates strong support for this
application.
Judge Lane adopted Resolution 2014 - 14 approving a new application from Trader Joe's Company for
a 3.2% - beer off premise license at Trader Joe's #304, 3500 South College Avenue, #110.

A regular meeting of the Liquor Licensing Authority was held May 21, 2014 in Municipal Court, 215
North Mason. Associate Judge Teresa Ablao presiding.

Registration of Nicholas Smith as
Manager of Texas Roadhouse,
4633 South Timberline Road, Approved
Nicholas Smith, manager applicant, briefly described his background. He stated the previous manager
ceased to be the manager in December, 2013. Mr. Smith stated he has completed TIP's training. He
stated he supervises approximately 60 employees and that he is several supervisors to cover while he is
not on premise. Mr. Smith stated he has a current copy of the Liquor Code on premise.
Associate Judge Ablao approved Nicholas Smith as manager of Texas Roadhouse, 4633 South
Timberline Road.
Request from Wise Fly, LLC dba Tap and Handle to
Change, Alter, or Modify the Licensed Premises at
307 South College Avenue, Approved
Jeff Willis, representative for Wise Fly, LLC, briefly described the proposed changes. He stated the railing
will be 30 inches tall and that the patio is visible to employees inside the building. Mr. Willis stated they
will position a door person when they are busier. He stated he had all positive responses to the
petitioning he conducted of the immediate neighbors. In response to a question from Liquor
Enforcement Officer Clitnovici, Mr. Willis stated they will have signs on the fence to warn patrons that
alcohol is not to go beyond the fenced area.
Associate Judge Ablao approved the modification of premise application form Wise Fly, LLC dba Tap
and Handle to change, alter or modify the licensed premises at 307 South College Avenue.
