I. Call to Order
Chairperson Robenalt called the regular meeting of the Fort Collins Housing Authority Board of
Commissioners to order at 7:32 AM.
II. Citizen Input
Guest: Mel Hilgenberg, resident of the Northern Hotel had two issues.
1. He reported that a fellow resident said the HUD allocated fair market rent amount dropped. He
did not verify the statement online.
2. He stated several wheelchair-bound residents were unable to access the elevator when it was out
of order. He said that he does not believe residents know the emergency procedures. He
suggested the residents form a type of council at the Northern Hotel with representatives from
each floor to watch out for each other.
Ms. Brewen responded that there is one staff member with open office hours every Friday and
additionally one of the Family Self Sufficiency case managers has been working at the property to get
residents involved in services. In the past there have also been CSU Social Work interns who help with
these services. Staff members talked to the owner's representative this week and provided a proposal
for a 15 hour resident services staff person specifically for the Northern Hotel. The owner will review
the proposal with their budget process. The staff will continue to try to engage the residents to
participate.
Commissioner Robenalt asked if the elevator is now running properly and staff responded that the issue
was resolved the same afternoon.
