1. Introductions
Unnecessary
2. Approval of Minutes
We were unable to approve June Minutes due to lack of quorum. We will revisit at the
August meeting.
3. Open Discussion General Public
a. The City Liaisons will work with Karla Smith (Coordinator of City Boards and
Commissions) to request a downsizing of COD membership from eleven to nine
members. Lydia has requested to be removed from the Commission and Kalin and Karen
will complete their terms in December 2010. Karla will assist with a formal request to be
reviewed by City Council.
b. Ethan was asked if anyone had visited the remodeled building at 117 N. Mason to
offer suggestions for enabling individuals with visual impairment in finding the entry to
the building. He has not heard from anyone.
4. New Business
a. JFK Boulevard Bus Stop
Terry received an e-mail from a concerned citizen stating there was a bus stop on JFK
Blvd that was inaccessible to certain individuals with mobility limitations due to no
curb cut. Terry shared the e-mail with COD members. Members felt the appropriate
action would be to forward the e-mail to Erica Keeton, the lead engineer for COFC
sidewalks, etc.
b. Coloradoan Article
Terry is scheduled to meet with Pat Ferrier, a reporter with The Coloradoan
newspaper. The article will outline Terry’s job and his role in the community and his
position on the COD.
5. Old Business
a. Epic Bus Stop Sub-Committee
Terry met with Wendy Williams at the end of March or early April (Terry will look
back on his calendar for the exact date). He has had no response from that meeting.
The COD will compose an official letter requesting a response. Terry will bring a
rough draft to the August meeting.
b. Mayor’s Awards
Rosanne shared color copies of the postcard layout for proofing. She got estimates for
printing them. Michelle will get an estimate from Larimer County’s print shop and
Terry will do the same at CSU. The next subcommittee meeting will be July 22.
6. Community News and Updates
July 26 marks the 20 year anniversary of the signing of the Americans with Disabilities
Act. Should the COD do something to bring this to community awareness? Terry will
mention it to Pat Ferrier to see if The Coloradoan will run an article to commemorate this
date.
7. Adjourn: 1:30pm
