1. Introductions
2. Approval of Minutes/May 23rd : Minutes approved.
3. Open Discussion:
Miller —Larimer County Mobility Council will be going over their two‐year plan.
Miller will ask Myles Crane about his efforts in trying to consolidate efforts. We
could make a better effort in keeping touch so we don’t duplicate work or services.
4. New Business:
a. Disability Parade on September 7th. Coon will send an email to Nancy
Jackson, Director of Disabled Resource Services, to see what the Commission
can do to help.
b. Rob Moseby: Sidewalk program presentation.
c. Update Boards and Commissions Liaison list
The Board assigned members to follow one other Board or Commission by
reading their minutes and possibly attending one of their meetings. Luna
will take CDBG, Arndt will take Human Relations, Robinson will take Youth
Advisory.
d. Northern Hotel Accessibility: Coon described the issue with the staircase.
5. Old Business:
a. Letter to the Women’s Commission/Human Relations Commission ‐ Coon, on
behalf of COD, wrote a letter to the HR Commission and Women’s
Commission. Myles Crane responded and asked us to reconsider. After much
discussion, the board decided that while we are happy to work together, but
in ways other than combining the awards ceremonies.
Hueber moved and Devereaux seconded a motion to keep the COD awards
ceremony as a stand‐alone ceremony. Vote: 8‐0.
b. Affordable Housing Update
We had to cancel our subcommittee meeting. Hueber sent an email with
links to resources. Hueber asked that the board read what was sent in
preparation for the subcommittee meeting. We will also be discussing the
Mayor’s Awards at this meeting because Hueber will be absent from the
regular July meeting.
Schlicting will contact the people at CSU who coordinate the housing fair.
That way we could get a list of landlords we could call to start a directory of
accessible housing.
c. Hearing Loops update:
Lincoln Center is being updated. City is going to do a press release to
announce the hearing loop installation. They want to get the bugs worked out
first. The police station’s community room is next. Then the Discovery
Museum would be after that.
Coon suggested we host a testing forum at the Lincoln center. The board
considered having the Mayor’s Awards in one of the rooms at the Lincoln
Center. The Senior Center will get the hearing loops after the remodel, which
will be after the Mayor’s Awards. The Senior Center has many advantages for
hosting the Mayor’s Awards.
The board considered hosting a movie morning for kids and an afternoon
open house for adults to demonstrate the technology. We will talk more
about this next month.
6. Community News and Updates
a. Emma McArdle: Thank you to the Commission and information about
integration of services.
b. Brent Peterson: Brent is working with a group of young adults, ranging in age
from 18‐20 year‐olds. Every single one has mentioned that the Fort Collins
community has been very welcoming. So, thank you to the Commission and
the City.
c. Bob Overbeck is our new City Council liaison to the COD. Coon will send him
an email.
7. Adjourn: Hueber moved to adjourn. Schlicting seconded. Meeting adjourned at
1:35 pm.
Next Meeting: July 25th. Subcommittee will meet on July 11th.
