3. Open Discussion General Public
a. Mike Pruznick has been a Software Engineer for some large companies. He is
currently a small business owner. He is concerned that the proposed business plan for
Fort Collins was written to maximize profits for large companies, and their
shareholders, and not for the betterment of the community. He has asked the COD to
review the plan and act as concerned citizens, if so moved.
b. Anne Kirkner is an advocate at the Sexual Assault Victim Advocate center
(SAVA). They are a non-profit agency dedicated to the needs of sexual assault
survivors. They provide quality prevention, intervention, advocacy and counseling for
all individuals affected by sexual violence. Sava provides ongoing education and
outreach to the community to one day eradicate sexual violence in our region. She
was here today to remind the COD that individuals with disabilities can be at a
disadvantage and vulnerable to such violence.
c. Joann Ginal attended the meeting to request that the COD make a suggestion to city
counsel regarding their public meetings. She says she has witnessed individuals with
disabilities being called on last, or not at all, at these meetings. She was wondering if
they could be called on first, before citizens without disabilities. Coon reminded her
that it is a “first come, first serve” basis. He also pointed out that the COD was
instrumental in the city installing automatic door openers and a hearing loop area for
these chambers.
4. New Business
Kurt Ravenschlag presented a powerpoint on the Mason Corridor Project and the
new Max route that will serve it. These buses will come at 10 minute intervals and
are much more roomy for mobility maneuverability. They have locking devices
for wheelchairs and will not require a lift. They are “kneeling” vehicles which
means they lower to be level with the platform.
