GOLF BOARD
2010 ANNUAL REPORT
The City of Fort Collins Golf Board held 8 Regular Meetings in 2010. Board Members were
Lauren DeRosa, Robert Gerard, Johnny Hodges, Shane Houska, Michele Marquitz, Eric
McCrery, Grant Sherwood, Don Sinnar, and James Snyder. Jack Shearing was elected to the
Board in May upon Eric McCrery’s resignation. The Board elected officers at their January 20

meeting. Michele Marquitz was elected as Board Chairperson, along with Lauren DeRosa as
Board Vice Chairperson and Shane Houska as Board Secretary. David Roy served as City
Council Liaison to the Board. J.R. Schnelzer, Director of Parks along with Bill Whirty, Manager
of Parks, Dawna Gorkowski, Parks Finance Supervisor and Dawn Worth, Golf Administrative
Assistant, provided staff support to the Board. Grant Sherwood served his last term on the Golf
Board.
City Park Nine, Collindale and SouthRidge are the three golf courses that are maintained by the
City of Fort Collins.
2010 Budget
The Board was updated on the Golf Division’s budget throughout 2010 and the Budgeting for
Outcomes (BFO) budget process.
Food & Beverage Concessionaire
C.B. & Potts was appointed as the new Food and Beverage Concessionaire at Collindale Golf
Course in January. C.B. & Potts at Collindale was very successful in 2010.
City Plan Review
Ken Waido, Chief City Planner, reviewed the City Plan with the Board in March and explained
the Board’s roll in the process. The Board later submitted their input to Planning.
Round Table Discussion
The Board held their annual Round Table discussion with the Superintendents and Golf
Professionals during their March meeting. They were updated on how things were going at the
courses as well as how the Golf Professionals have been transitioning at their new courses.
Marketing
John Litel, Public Relations Coordinator, reviewed the Golf Division’s Marketing Plan in May.
Throughout the remainder of 2010 the Golf Board gave input on marketing ideas to increase play
at the three City courses.
Electric Carts
The Board was updated in June on the status of the electric carts. It was initially decided that the
conversion would first take place at Collindale; however it was later determined that it would be
a more cost affective approach to convert SouthRidge instead.
2010 “Fort Collins Fore Kids” Event
Our 14
th
Annual “Fort Collins Fore Kids” event took place on June 1, 2010. The event was a
success.
Parks Reorganization
At the August meeting Bill Whirty reviewed the Parks reorganization and how it would affect
the Golf Division. Three new supervisors (Mike Calhoon, LeaAnn Haish & Steve Lukowski)
were appointed in August and introduced to the Golf Board at the September meeting.
2011 Golf Fees and Charges
Staff reviewed the 2011 Golf Fees and Charges with the Board. A Public Meeting was held at the
October meeting and the Board approved the recommendations.
