the sidewalk survey.
4. New Business: Go to: fcgov.com/commissions to sign up for newsletters, minutes, etc
to subscribe for alerts. Boards and commissions newsletter—Jeff Coon couldn’t find the
link. Roseanne will look into the link and get back to us. If everyone could register for
the newsletter, that would be good.
a. Film Festival: Wendie Robinson: On April 7th, Sunday at 3:00 pm at Timberline
Church, there will be a First Annual Film Festival. Achieve with us Colorado Film
Festival. Arc of Larimer County is celebrating National Disability Awareness Month.
Coon discussed Menschen—a movie made locally featuring a boy with Down
syndrome. It’s about WWII. The movie is just coming out. Sesssions is another
movie that is recommended.
b. Transportation Board Meeting: Devereaux attended the transportation board
meeting last Wednesday evening. He was on the panel and presented how
transportation issues impact people with disabilities. Gary Thomas presented on
Saint. He discussed how much money could be put into our local economy if people
weren’t in their cars. Barbara (?) from the senior center presented. Fourth panel
participant was a single mom of four children –one of whom has physical disabilities.
She couldn’t afford Dial‐A‐Ride due to needing to bring her other children (3) along
with her and pay for them. Emma McArdle summarized transportation challenges.
The meeting is on uTube now. It’s about 1 hour and 40 minutes. There is a City
YouTube channel to be accessed via fcgov.com.
Emma McArdle identified funding as the crucial issue.
Devereaux is trying (personally) to find housing in town that is accessible to public
transportation and he is finding it very challenging.
Coon asked: for expansion of service, what would be the most important next step?
Devereaux said that he thinks it’s expanding the fixed routes.
c. Super Shuttle: Last month we discussed airport transportation. Coon found out that
SuperShuttle has accessible service but GreenRide does not.
d. Fort Collins Utilities—Coon asked if anyone knows if they have specific guidelines
for turning off peoples’ power. Coon knows someone who had her utilities turned
off. Coon will put that on the agenda for next month to address this issue.
e. Fundraiser for Foothills Gateway: Arndt said that there is a Flying Pig 5K fundraiser
for Foothills Gateway on April 14th. She is volunteering and told them she would ask
the COD if anyone else wanted to volunteer.
f. Excellence in Education: Hueber brought up Excellence in Education awards at PSD
next Monday. Awards are given called the Mary Hull awards. Hueber said there
were a lot of amazing nominees who are very deserving. Keep in mind that parents
can nominate for next year. Three people working in special education will receive
an award out of 22 nominees.
5. Open Discussion: Hueber discussed asking PSD to expand the questions they ask
private pre‐school providers regarding being “accessible”. They need to ask specific
questions about what that means.
6. Adjourn: 1:25 p.m. Motion Hueber –Miller second. (Arndt will be absent next meeting
in March.)
