2. Approval of Minutes
October (No meeting in November): Approved. Motion by Hueber, Second by
Coon.
3. Open Discussion General Public
• Devereaux reported that COFC has released new bike maps that show areas
with more than a 6% grade.
• COD agreed that the Mayor’s Awards was, once again, a success, with an
extra note of thanks to Hueber.
• The Mayor’s Appreciation BBQ was very nice. Several COD members were
able to attend.
• Perry inquired about the COD attendance policy and was referred to the
October minutes.
4. New Business
a. Affordable Housing for Individuals with Disabilities
Coon had shared an article on accessible housing. The article contained a website
for more information on where to find accessible housing in specific areas.
Schlicting went to this website, but everything listed was either Section 8, or new
construction which was not affordable to someone with a median income. Hueber
wondered if the COD should task itself in creating a local guidebook directing
individuals with disabilities to affordable housing. Does something similar
already exist? There are many documented services available for those who
qualify for Medicaid, but what about individuals who make too much to qualify,
but not enough to afford new construction?
Action: Coon will research resources available to individuals seeking affordable,
accessible housing. In Logan’s absence Miller has agreed to be the COD liaison
to the Affordable Housing Commission. She will research the information they
have to offer.
b. Snow Removal from Bus Stops
Perry mentioned that it is that time of year to discuss snow removal at bus stops.
Devereaux has a meeting scheduled with Nicole Hahn of Transfort on 12/20, to
discuss the survey results on bus stop accessibility and ADA compliance. He will
add the issue to the agenda. Schlicting would like to attend as he has had CSU
student volunteers canvassing the local bus routes.
5. Old Business
a. Mayor’s Awards
The COD has been concerned about how few nominations come in for the awards
each year. Feedback from the community seems to indicate that the on-line
nomination page is too difficult to find and navigate. Rosanne will set up a laptop at
the next meeting and members can practice navigating the site and give feedback.
Members may also go to www.fcgov.com and have feedback for the January meeting
in advance.
6. Community News and Updates
KUNC radio station is running a week long story of young people who are forced to
live in nursing homes due to the prohibitive cost of in home care. The conclusion of
this will be reported at the next meeting.
7. Adjourn: 2:15pm
