VI. Art Donation Process Discussion:
Ms Martin distributed the established art donation process information. The board voiced the concern
that local businesses will start donating pieces which will turn into advertisements for their companies.
Discussion was had about limiting the size of the signage so it is not perceived as advertising. Another
concern is for donated artworks that are politically charged, such as memorials. A memorial has to be
significant to the community or memorializing people who are significant to the community.
Ms Martin pointed out that sometimes city departments don't realize they need to go through the APP
process for art donations and APP gets involved later than is desired. Ms Martin posed the questions;
"What do you see as not working?" and "What are the goals you see as needing improvement?" Ms
Martin will come back to the board with a draft of the donation acceptance criteria for further
discussion.
VII. Boards and Commission Periodic Review
Ms Martin distributed copies of the questions for the periodic review of the board. July 17th is the
deadline for the APP periodic review by City Council.
