ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS
The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) will meet on the second Thursday of every month,
provided that there are discussion items appearing on the regular monthly agenda. The
Board may also meet as needed in order to convene special meetings.
The primary purpose of the meetings will be to hear and decide appeals of certain
administrative decisions made by City staff and to authorize variances from the
requirements of the Land Use Code. It is estimated that the Board will consider
approximately 35 variance requests in 2011. However, the workload of the Board
could be impacted if the East Side/West Side Neighborhood Design Standards project
results in the adoption of code changes that affect the Old Town neighborhoods.
The Board will also be involved in other projects in 2011, such as reviewing proposed
Land Use Code revisions that will be necessary as the City continues refinement of the
Code. No other special projects or issues are anticipated at this time, but they will be
brought to the Board as needed.
The Board will hold one breakfast work session. That session typically occurs on the
morning of a regularly scheduled monthly meeting.
