10-13.
Other business:
Work Plan – No other revisions were made to the work plan and it was approved as is (5-0).
The work plan is as follows:
1. Youth Advisory Board will participate in the Father’s Day 5K race on June 19, 2011 and will
create a competition for teenagers from the middle schools and high schools to promote
fitness. They will provide incentives and prizes for the students.
2. Paige and Kelsey will organize a presentation for the students from Fort Collins area high
schools about the importance of personal finance.
3. Get students to participate in the Annual Kite Festival in Spring Canyon Park on April 17,
2011 and get each high school to donate an art kite (decorated by their respective art clubs) to
the art auction for a school competition. The highest grossing kite will win the high school
portion of the art auction. The winning school will keep the money from the HS auction and
distribute it to art and health programs/classes at their school.
4. Increase amount of advertising for volunteer opportunities for students. Speak with volunteer
groups and organizations.
5. Create a new survey from students with emphasis on community input, with details on
bullying, health, free time and personal finance. Surveys will be distributed at all 4 high
schools and at least one feeder middle school for each high school. The board came up with 2
different surveys, one for middle school and one for high school students. The surveys will be
conducted by the following YAB members at the corresponding schools:

February meeting.
Danika’s update – At the Superintendent’s Youth Advisory Council meeting we talked about and started
planning for an overnight event to talk about bullying, sexual harassment and other teen issues. This event
will have about 50-60 students from grades 9-11 from every high school in Poudre School District and
were hoping this will help other students learn about other high schools. There will also be 1-2
supervisors from each school (teachers, deans, etc.)
We started to discuss costs and what we would need to do to make this event happen in April. There is not
a set date or location. However having the event at a middle school would be ideal for cost. We were also
assigned jobs and information to bring to the next meeting. Things included were possible locations,
transportation information, activities for students, possible speakers and technology. Our next meeting is
in January.
Pranaya’s update on CYAC – The teen survey was finalized – 483 teens took the survey. The CYAC
(Colorado Youth Advisory Council) will be holding a meeting at the state capitol in January. The meeting
will focus on social health and education.
YAB T-shirt – The design was approved and sizes were taken. Megan G. will order them.
Liasion update:
Megan gave a winter Recreator to each board member.
Michael moved to adjourn the meeting and Paige seconded (5-0). Meeting was adjourned at 8:05 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Carol Fahring, Staff Support
The next meeting will be Wednesday, January 5 at 6:30 pm
at Northside Aztlan Community Center, 112 E. Willow Street.
