Citizen Review Board Meeting
CIC Room, City Hall
April 9, 2008
Present: Dennis Baker, Anne Berry, Harry Edwards, Jim Dubler, and Chris Kahler
Excused Absence: Dave Evans and Glenn Strunk
Staff: Lt. Craig Dodd and Angelina Sanchez -Sprague, Recorder.
Chair Harry Edwards called the meeting to order at 6:00
Minutes:
Dennis Baker made a motion to approve the March 12, 2008 minutes. Anne Berry
seconded the motion. The motion passed 5:0.
Chris Kahler made a motion to approve Case L112007-008 subcommittee (Chair
Harry Edwards, Chris Kahler, Dave Evans, and Jim Dubler-alternate) minutes.
Harry Edwards seconded the motion. The motion was passed 2:0.
Voice Mail Reports:
CRB Voice Mail Message Report Harry Edwards reported he checked the voice mail
box at 7:42 a.m. April 9 and there were no messages. Chris Kahler asked if a link could
be added to the CRB web page linking to the Police Service complaint form. Lt. Dodd,
working with Police Services staff, has completed the work. The link can be found at
ham://www.fcgov.com/cityclerk/citizen-review.php in the Miscellaneous Info box.
Bias Policing Voice Mail Report Lt. Dodd reported the voice mail box was last checked
at 5:00 p.m. April 4 and there were no messages.
Public Input: Elaine Boni, Human Relations Commission was present. Harry reported
he'd had an opportunity to visit with the HRC last year. He invited Board members to
consider visiting the HRC at one of the regular meetings 2ntl Thursday of each month at
5:30 p.m. in the CIC Room.
New Business:
Harry Edwards asked if there was any interest in discussing the CRB's meeting -date and
time. A number of members said they'd be interested in discussing the topic so Harry
asked Lt. Dodd to add it to the May 14`" Agenda.
Old Business
Training
Harry Edwards asked Lt. Dodd if annual CRB member training could be set by August.
Lt. Dodd said he'd be happy to facilitate that and suggested Drug Task Force Activity —
What and Why. They have a presentation that is currently used for the Citizen Police
Academy but he'd be happy to customize the presentation to suit the CRB's interests.
Harry also asked for training on the protocol for use of less lethal force. Lt. Dodd
suggested training take place after the July 9th regular meeting at 2501 Midpoint. The
Board will consider moving their regular meeting to July 16 as Dennis Baker is not
available July 9tn.
Pending Cases
None
Jim Dubler moved to adjourn the meeting. Anne Berry seconded the motion. The
motion was approved 6:0 and the meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
Next Meeting: Wednesday, May 14, 2008, 6 p.m., CIC Room, 300 Laporte Avenue.
