CULTURAL RESOURCES BOARD MINUTES
Regular Meeting —Thursday, October 30, 2008

A regular meeting of the Cultural Resources Board was held on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at 12:00 p.m.
The following members were present:
Board Members present: Patrick Moran, Ann Wilmsen, Anne Macdonald
Carol Ann Hixon, Susan Marshall, Diane Gaede
Board Members absent: Sue Beck-Ferkiss
Staff Members present: Jill Stilwell, Gail Budner, Cheryl Donaldson
Guests Present: Katie Perrin, CSU Student
Julie Sutter, Interim Executive Director of Arts Alive
1. Call to Order - 12:02 p.m. - Mr. Moran
II. Consideration of agenda — No changes
III. Consideration and approval of minutes of September 25, 2008:
Ms. Wilmsen made a motion to accept the minutes as amended.
Ms. Marshall seconded the motion..
Passed unanimously.
IV. Public Input —None
V. Hot Topics from Liaisons:
Ms. Stilwell advised the Board that Art in Public Places will be reviewed by City Council in February,
2009 and that she would like the Cultural Resources Board to formally support the program.
VI. Arts Alive Update:
Julie Sutter, the Interim Executive Director of Arts Alive, presented a review of their business plan,
goals, collaborative efforts amongst the community groups, and the planned transitional and long term
funding and support of the new Arts Alliance. She also discussed survey results from many of the
local arts organizations and the future need for the creation of an Advisory Board and a Board of
Directors.
VII. 2009 Work Plan
The Board reviewed the 2008 Work Plan and brainstormed a new mission and revised goals for the
2009 Work Plan. Ms. Stilwell informed the Board that they would need to approve the revised Plan at
the November meeting and return it to the City Clerk's Office by the end of November. The Board
will review the 2008 Work Plan at the December meeting and prepare the annual report on the
accomplishments of their goals.

VIII. Liaison Reports:
Convention/Visitors Bureau — Dr. Gaede reported that the CVB has concerns about the impact that the
poor economy has had on the City but feels that Fort Collins is still faring better than other Colorado
communities.
Art in Public Places - Ms. Wilmsen reported on the status of the Spring Creek Gardens and the Pickle
Plant project.

Arts Alive - None
IX. Review of Past Fort Fund Events:
Ms. Wilmsen attended the Eracism Film. She thought the film was very good but that the committee
should expand to a larger venue, and that this could be made possible by asking Fort Fund for
additional grant money. Ms. Wilmsen also attended the High Performance Dance production of
"Life's A Ride." She said is was poorly attended but very well produced.
Ms. Hixon attended the CSU Division of Dance and Theatre's production for the UCA's grand
opening which showcased the Diavolo Dance Theatre. She thought the event was spectacular.
X.. Staff Reports:
Ms. Stilwell reported on the APP projects currently under construction throughout the city.
She also informed the board that the annual City Showcase held in Orlando, Florida selected the Art In
public Places Program as an awardee. Two City employees will have a booth at the event to represent
the City of Fort Collins.
Ms. Donaldson reported on current developments and events at the Museum. She updated the Board
on the Museum/Discovery Center's fund raising and the master plan for the exhibit space. She also
discussed the City's Holiday Display, opening on December 4th.
XI. Other Business:
Ms. Stilwell reminded the Board about the Boards and Commissions Reception on November 5th.
She also reported on the Lincoln Center's staff moving to their new office in the former Ludlow Room
in mid November, the cancellation of the Lincoln Center's 20th Anniversary Gala and the soft ticket
sales that the Lincoln Center has been experiencing this season.
