MINUTES OF
HISTORIC LANDMARKS PRESERVATION COMMISSION
September 17, 1973
The meeting was called to order at 3:40 P.M. Present
were Virg Magerfleisch, President, Elwin Hunter, Chuck Burchfield,
June Bennett, Dan Tyler, Viola Moore, Jan Painter and Liston Leyen-
decker.
Upon motion by Hunter and seconded by Bennett, which
Motion was carried, the minutes of the previous meeting were approved
as previously presented.
Mr. Magerfleisch then reported on the Linden Tech Center
and the old fort site. He announced that the city owns approximately
two acres of land north of the river and that Mr. Bingaman was inter-
ested in development of the site on behalf of the city. Upon motion
made by Bennett and seconded by Burchfield, the Commission decided to
recommend to the Planning Department that a preliminary investigation
be undertaken to develop a plan for the use of the site using the
local historical experts and other groups as resources.
Next the Commission discussed the plans for the Avery
Mouse. The City Attorney is now negotiating with the owners for
purchase and no problem is anticipated with obtaining matching funds.
Under new business, Mrs. Bennett announced that Bill Kane
of the Planning Office will keep the Commission apprised of any

discoveries or findings they sa::e to assist the Commission in its
survey of historical sites within the core area.
There being no further business to come before the floor,
the meeting was regularly adjourned.
