Ms. Hover informed the Commission that all meetings will now be taped in accordance
with Ordinance #14 which requires records (verbatim) to be kept on file for appeals
procedures. Copies of the ordinance were handed out.
Mr. Jim Reidhead reviewed his application for a sign on an awning at 142 Linden.
He passed around pictures of the proposed sign and the awning they would go on.
He stated that the sign would be approximately 82" x 68" on canvas material with
a beige background with brown lettering and piping around the border. He stated
it would read "Old Town Associates, Ltd., Upstairs". Ms. Fernan stated that they
have 50 square feet sign allowance and are well within the allowance with this
sign: MOTION MADE by Mr. Carsten to approve the sign application as presented.
SECONDED by Ms. Zemeckis. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Mr. Beardmore asked Mr. Reidhead to brief the Commission on his proposal for
painting the building at 211 Jefferson. Mr. Beardmore summarized the Commission's
action taken at the 8/5/81 meeting where they approved a paint scheme chart for
the buildings on the Jefferson block and stated there were eleven schemes approved.
Mr. Reidhead went over the color schemes that have been used on the buildings
surrounding the one at 211 Jefferson and stated he has been given the choice of
which colors to use on this building by the owner. Ms. Zemeckis stated that she
felt it was up to Mr. Reidhead to make a decision on which color scheme he pre-
ferred and then the Commission would act on that. Mr. Reidhead stated that he
would like to go with the blue/gray color scheme (Scheme #1). MOTION MADE by
Ms. Zemeckis to approve color scheme #1 (gray morn/mayflower blue/sonoma-grape)
for 211 Jefferson. SECONDED by Mr. Carsten. MOTIO14 CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
Mr. Beardmore clarified that, as long as the tones are basically the same, the
brand of paint makes no difference, and that the Commission is not in the busi-
ness of recommending certain paints. Mr. Reidhead excused himself from the
rest of the meeting.
Mr. Beardmore went over the letter he received from Chuck Mabry, Project Manager
for Old Town Associates. (Copies were handed out to Commission members present).
He explained that he was updating the Commission on the status of the Old Town
project and that they were wanting to keep the lines of communication open bet-
ween themselves and the Commission. Mr. Mabry stated in his letter that a
master urban design plan will be out soon and that this will be shared with the
Commission. Mr. Beardmore stated that he would like to draft a response to Mr.
Mabry/Old Town Associates thanking them for their letter updating the Commission
on the project.

Mr. Beardmore also informed the Commission of the possibility of the redevelop-
ment of the old powerhouse which he stated is City property. He felt that a
recommendation should be made from the Commission to the Cultural Resources
Board on considering the designation of the powerhouse as a historical site.
He stated he would draft a letter to the Cultural Resources Board regarding
this matter.
The flyer on the upcoming historic preservation program, Designing the Interface
Between Old & New, sponsored by CSU's Landscape Architecture School, was handed
out to Commission members. Mr. Beardmore encouraged anyone who could to attend.
The meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
