Proiect Updates
- Policy Plan Update: At the September 17 P&R Board meeting we will finalize the Policy Plan so it
can be available for approval by Council on October 21. Once it is "finalized" on September 17, we will put it
on the Web for feedback from citizens and other boards. Shirley noted that the Archery Range was missing
from the Plan, Craig will add it to the plan for September 17.
- Mountain Vista Sub Area Plan: The zoning for the property around Anheuser-Busch has expired, and
the City is in the process of re -zoning some of that land. The property West of A-B would likely be zoned for
industry that would compliment A-B. Poudre School District land has been conceptually planned and zoned for
a K-12 and High School. The Richard's Lake development should start in 2010 depending upon roads.
Anheuser-Busch has a Park with a ball field and volleyball court. They would like to be granted permission
from City Council to be their own recreation. It would have no affect on the Parks Dept because they would be
totally responsible for their park's operation.
Other Business
- Library Park is part of the Library District transfer of property. We will continue to be the booking
agent and maintain the property until they expand.
- Horticulture Center bridge is complete and opens up to 12 acres of land which will be developed into a
grand lawn with a stage for entertainment. We are looking into parking availability at the County buildings
across the street, depending upon the event time.
- Cemeteries is looking into 100% "green" burials, we have been able to provide about 75% green.
Typically a 100% green burial is a shroud or cardboard box and no monument or headstone, but there are
settling issues that occur. We are looking at a section of Roselawn to provide 100% green burials.

Other Business (continued)
- Downtown core is getting very good press with the flowers. The DDA has offered $100,000 to add
additional flowers in 2009. It is very expensive to maintain, so we're checking into what the $100,000 can
provide.
- Fossil Creek interactive water feature maintenance has been an issue with water quality due to pooling
water. During the winter, the feature will be re -designed.
- Disc Golf continues to be looked into by Craig, Marty & J.R. The disc golfers are actively looking for
additional locations, but it is slow process. The area east of Edora was too close to the Utility plant, and there
were too many concerns about disc players going into fenced area to retrieve their frisbee, which would be a
federal offense.
- NISP Memo: Mike Chalona drafted a memo and will send it electronically to all the Board members
for their input.
