HomeMy WebLinkAbout2007 - Land Conservation And Stewardship Board - Annual Report2007 ANNUAL REPORT
CITY OF FORT COLLINS
Land Conservation and Stewardship Board
DATE: February 11, 2008
TO: Mayor and Council Members
FROM: Linda Stanley on behalf of the Land Conservation and Stewardship Board
The Land Conservation and Stewardship Board (LCSB) is pleased to present its 2007
Annual Report to City Council. During 2007, the LCSB worked diligently to fulfill its
responsibilities as advisors to City Council on issues related to the Natural Areas
Program (NAP).
During 2007, the LCSB recommended several actions to Council regarding real property
transactions. In addition to a handful of relatively routine transactions related to, for
example, utility easements, the Board also reviewed and recommended to Council the
Colorado State University and City of Fort Collins land exchange. The Board also
reviewed potential acquisitions with staff and made several site visits.
The Board played an important role in reviewing and recommending the newly adopted
Wildlife Management Guidelines. These guidelines are particularly important with
respect to prairie dog management. Staff made its first annual report to the Board about
ongoing prairie dog management as required by the Guidelines.
The Board reviewed the Program's draft BFO offers for the 2008-9 budget.
The Board reviewed and recommended for adoption the Soapstone Prairie Natural Area
Management Plan.
The Board reviewed the Canal Important Project and made suggestions for its
improvement.
The Board submitted its concerns regarding the Northern Integrated Supply Project to the
Council. It also commented on issues associated with possible development projects on
the I-25 corridor, in particular at Harmony Road and Highway 392.
The LCSB looks forward to serving the citizens and City Council in the year 2007.
Thank you for the opportunity to make such contributions to the community.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Stanley, Chair
Land Conservation and Stewardship Board
