AGENDA REVIEW
The Mercer Building - 206 Linden Street: Reviewed by Bud Frick

ISSUES/COMMENTS: Applicant is requesting to change the existing
two door entryway, with one custom made door of equal height,
(approximately 8 feet) and width of 3 feet, plus side panels with
glass.
CURRENT ITEMS:
The Mercer Building
Mr. Steve Ackerman, owner/applicant addressed the Commission. He
wished to correct the dimensions in the drawing of the door. The
width of the door and sidepanels would total 5 feet. The door
will be 3 feet, and each sidepanel will be 1 foot. The sidepanel
glass would be about 611.
Ms. Ketcham asked the applicant why he wanted to change the door.
Mr. Ackerman stated the existing doors, which are each 2 1/2 feet
wide do not allow easy access to the building. He also would like
to add glass at the entry so that people exiting the building
would be able to view the outside area prior to exiting. The pro-
spective tenants have expressed the desire for these changes.
Ms. Ketcham asked it would be possible to retain the existing
doors and remove some of the paneling, replacing those areas with
glass.
Mr. Ackerman stated the doors seem to be unstable, and for secu-
rity reasons, believes the proposed one door system would be bet-
ter.
Ms. Ketcham asked if the hardware that had been on the double
doors would be used on the proposed door.
Mr. Ackerman stated he wasn't sure the hardware could be used on
this single door.

Ms. Ketcham pointed out that this proposed door would be the only
one of its type in the area, all the others have some glass.
Ms. Tunner suggested three options: Leave the doors as they are,
take the mullion out at the top, leave the mullion and put in a
panel of glass, or remake the doors with glass panels. Mr. Acker-
man asked for suggestions on signage.
Ms. Tunner suggested painting the signs on the upstairs windows,
painted on the glass panels at the doors, painted on the transom,
or a plaque at the entry.
Mr. Frick moved leave the doors as is, with the option of placing
glass in the middle panels and retaining compatible hardware. The
amendment made is that if these existing doors are not structu-
rally stable, replacement doors should look the same. The glass
would be in the long, narrow, vertical panels, starting at approx-
imately door handle height, also retaining the transom, and the
mullion. Color shall be same as the sample submitted by appli-
cant.
Ms. Ketcham seconded the motion.
Motion passed 5-0.
Meeting adjourned approximately 6:45 p.m.
