SUMMARY OF MEETING: The LPC approved the designation of the Dealy/Good
House at 223 South Howes Street as a Local Landmark. The LPC conceptually
reviewed a rear addition on 508 West Olive Street. The removal of the awning on
the old Post Office, One Art West Center was approved. The location of the
proposed silo for Coopersmith's Brew Pub on the east side of the Old Town Plaza
entrance was approved, contingent on the approval of the design plans of the silo
to be submitted and approved by the LPC at a later date. The LPC finished their
review of the Central Business District Survey. Leanne Lawrie, City Planner
presented City Plan Principles and Policies.
CALL TO ORDER AND ROLL CALL: Jennifer Carpenter, Commission Chairperson called
the meeting to order at 5:40 p.m., 281 North College Avenue. Commission members
Jennifer Carpenter, Ruth Weatherford, Per Hogestad, Bud Frick, James Tanner, Jean
Kullman, and Diana Ross were present. Joe Frank and Karen McWilliams represented
staff. Leanne Lawrie, City Planner was present.
GUESTS: Cindi Campbell, Landscape Architecture student at the University of Colorado,
Denver, attended the LPC meeting for a class assignment. Mark Johnson, owner of 508
West Olive Street; Angela Brayham, Executive Director of One West Art Center; Brad
Page, representing Coopersmith's Brew Pub; and Carr Bieker, representing the Architect's
Studio, designer of the malt silo, attended the meeting.
AGENDA REVIEW: None.
STAFF REPORT: None.
COMMISSION MEMBERS' REPORTS: Mr. Frick, liaison to the Downtown Development
Authority, reported that he was not able to attend the Thursday, September 5, 1996
meeting. Ms. Carpenter asked Mr. Frick to contact staff in the future if he could not attend.
Ms. McWilliams reported that Saturday, September 13, 1996, Poudre Landmarks
Foundation will be conducting the Historic Homes Tour. The Historic Garden Fair in the
gazebo area of the Avery House will have venders discussing their products and
preservation issues and the Historic Preservation office will have a booth, with information
on Local Landmark Designation and incentive programs.
